whooping cough vaccine

Just wondering about this. I'm 32+6 and had my first midwife appointment since 24 weeks yesterday.

It was basically just a chat, but I realised last night that I should have probably been booked in for my whooping cough vaccine. I also never got 28 week blood tests, but not sure if that matters as much.

Does everyone get offered the vaccine, or is it just certain people. I know I never got the vaccine as a child as it was the only one my mum didn't trust, not sure if that makes s difference or not.

You should get your 28 week bloods done as they check for things like anaemia

Every pregnant woman in the UK can have the whooping cough vaccine - your GP will be able to provide it

Yes you should make an appt for the whooping cough vaccine.
I would also phone midwife about your blood tests, as pp says, they check your iron levels (not sure what else).

Hey, yes you should get the vaccine it protects both you and baby when born. Not trying to fear monger here but whooping cough can be devastating in infants.

I completely forgot about my whooping cough vaccine until midwife reminded me at my 32 week appointment. I left the appointment with the midwife and booked in at reception to see the nurse the next morning and it was all done and dusted.

Bit of a lump on my arm but nothing major. Definitely give them a ring and pop down for it doing.

Just ring the doctors reception and they'll book you in with the nurse. It was the quickest appointment I've ever had. I was literally in and out within 2 minutes.

I'd chase your midwife about bloods though. They check your iron levels and what not.

I had mine done 2 days ago... midwife mentioned it but had to ring gp surgery myself to get booked in for it. Had a very sore arm all day yesterday, couldn't sleep on it or anything but it's settled today.
Just give your surgery a call and they should book you in no questions asked :)
