stupid question sorry - easyjet

Just looked at easyjet's fit to fly policy and it says you do not need a medical certificate until 28 weeks. I'll be travelling during my 27th week and although they say that's fine I'm just wondering if I'm cutting it fine and I should get a certificate anyway?
Does anyone have any experience please?

Hi, easy jet is 35 weeks. I just flew with them yesterday and I'm 31 weeks(nearly) no one even blinked, (it was a domestic flight though)


From their site:

Expectant mothers Although pregnancy is not considered to be a medical condition and You are able to travel until quite late into Your pregnancy please note that:

If You have experienced any complications during your pregnancy please consult Your medical practitioner before flying with Us
You can travel up to the end of the 35th week for single pregnancies
If You are expecting more than one baby You can travel up to the end of the 32nd week
Expectant mothers wishing to travel with an infant on their lap are permitted to do so.

That extract from the website says you can travel up to 35 weeks. I'd double check If you still need a doctors note from 28 weeks though.

We are flying with Thomsons shortly and they allow you to fly up until 36 weeks, but you need a doctors note if you are over 28 weeks when you are flying. It also has to be dated within 5 days of the date of outbound travel.

Might be worth getting one just in case!

I travelled at exactly the same time, return trip uk > Majorca but on jet2, outgoing was fine but they pulled me up on the way home! I felt very relieved to have a doctors note ready as I'm not quite sure what they would have done if not. I'd definitely get one if I were you!

I flew back with them on Saturday at 27 weeks - not a word of a comment from anyone but I did take a printed copy of their policy just in case and my maternity notes have my dates on then.
Just a word of advice, get an aisle seat! I didn't as I always book window and middle for DH and I - it was the first time in the whole pregnancy I've been really bloody uncomfortable! The seats don't recline at all and I couldn't find any way to sit that didn't hurt. If you are in the aisle you can at least get out and walk up and down.

I flew to Vegas last week at 19 weeks and whilst well in time for airline it was my insurance who wanted some kind of confirmation - so my midwife literally just wrote me a letter saying I had no issues and no existing conditions :)

And yes, as above - get an aisle seat! Vegas was a killer in the end and even though I normally fly fine I was sick both ways lol but clearly just the long haul taking its toll!

I flew with easyjet last month at 34 weeks (Man-Cop, 1hr 30min flight), no one asked/mentioned anything to me whilst traveling...except having a giggle with the air stewardess that on the return flight I couldn't get the tray table down! No medical note needed. I checked with my consultant and midwife, they said it would be no problem (my 5&6, and last flights whilst pregnant). Would recommend speedy boarding as it can be the only way to get a seat whilst waiting at the gate to board. Aisle seat also made things easier, I reserved on row 3 as its not an emergency exit seat (can't sit there) but is near the front. Would also recommend for peace of mind to take medical notes with you. They have due date on them too in case you get asked for proof. But really it was no trouble, except a bit more tiring. No special treatment off anyone, even with massive bump. It's still a scramble getting on and off the flights, but cabin crew were lovely. I was anxious before, but it was fine :)

It might have changed recently but easyjet certainly used to need a fit to fly letter after 28 weeks, even though they'll allow you to fly until much later if you're fit. I think you still need to be under 28 weeks when you come back, so might be worth taking a letter to be on the safe side. I saw a lady refused boarding by easyjet a few years ago because she didn't have a letter - she was on the return leg of her flight as well so it was obviously a very distressing experience for her and her dp, but the staff were adamant she wouldn't be allowed on the plane. I didn't have my letter checked myself, but after having seen that I wouldnt take the risk of flying without one!

I fkew at 31 weeks and they didn't ask to see my letter. I had it ready, though, it is easy enough to get one and you wouldn't want to be stuck without.
