I'm due in 8 days and I've had no Braxton hicks throughout my pregnancy let alone even now! I haven't lost my mucous plug or any sign of mucous plug I just feel like I did at 20 weeks minus the large belly and wriggly baby and heaviness! Is this normal? Has anyone had no symptoms and there waters broke? I just really don't want to be over due and induced.Shock

I had no Braxton hicks, didn't lose plug and waters didn't break.
Had him on his due date after midwife broke my waters Smile

You probably are having Braxton hicks but not registering them amongst the general huge and stretched feeling. Plug and waters may not go till you are well in labour. I'm afraid nothing can stop you going overdue. You could still be waiting in three weeks or just under so I suggest trying not to obsess too much.

I had no labour symptoms, no niggly pains, no show and felt the same as you kiwi

Is this your first baby? The reality is most babies are not born on their due date, sorry!

Both my babies were 9 days overdue and I only had any idea something was happening the day I gave birth. I had my waters broken on both dc too.

Best of luck kiwi Flowers

It all sounds normal to me. I didn't lose my plug until the day DC1 was born, and my waters didn't go until just before the pushing stage with all three of my DC. I didn't have any labour symptoms in advance, though I did have Braxton Hicks in the last week or two.

I know the waiting is frustrating, but try to relax as much as you can. Most first babies are late, I believe. Good luck with your baby Flowers

First was nothing until water broke (10 days early).

Second was nothing until contractions started (7 days early).

Third was again nothing until contractions started (on due date).

As long as the baby's moving, relax.

ps--I couldn't pick a mucus plug out of a police line up. Blush

I didn't have any symptoms with number one till my waters broke. With number two I just had a few Miggles 24 hours before contraxtions started properly. 8 days is a long time !

My first was born 5 days after my due date. My mucus plug started going 3 days before he was born. I never had any pains or braxton hicks before I woke up with obvious contractions. Also my waters didn't go until I was pushing!

Sit tight and enjoy your last week(s) of freedom Grin

If you're anything like my first you've still got another 23 days to go! Relax or you'll drive yourself bonkers.

I had no recognisable labour signs until the day I had my first, literally nothing. Felt constipated over night and plug and waters went around 6:30 am, I was holding my baby by 11am...she was a week early

I'm currently 10 days over and don't have any of those things either. I've had enough!

I went 12 days over and still had a spontaneous birth. Okay I ended up being "induced" to keep labour going (DD back to back) but it all started by itself.
Date scans aren't always accurate, I sometimes think it's that that's wrong.

i went 8 days over with my first and no signs at all until the evening of the 8th day when i went into spontaneous labour, birth the next day. i didnt think it was ever going to happen, but it does!

Due in 6 days and no signs either. But then I didn't with my first until my waters went and DD was born 4 hours later (at 36 weeks). This waiting around is really tiresome!

I have a good feeling that baby will come this weekend - in the meantime enjoy the peace!

I was the same with dc1. Not a dicky bird. 40+1 I went for a Chinese and a few drinks with friends, lasted till about 10.30pm, went into spontaneous labour the following morning about 4am. Contractions every 3 mins, no waters breaking. Took another 24 hours for dd to come, arriving 40+3.

Dc2 was more frustrating as I had BH every three days and they were really quite strong! I'd have a bath and paracetamol and they'd die down for another day or two. He came 39+4, and the labour lasted about 20mins!

I had no signs with dd either. She was overdue though. She was eventually persuaded (or rather forced I guess as it was an eventual c section) to meet us at the end of day 12 of being overdue

Try and think of it as a 'due month' not date. Baby can arrive anytime between 37 and 42 weeks... I'm 37 weeks, baby not engaged at all. I don't think I'm heading for an early delivery (last one was very overdue).

Report
samks · 02/06/2016 09:36

I'm still hoping to go into labour spontaneously. I really don't want to be induced but it's booked for Saturday and I'm running out of time.
He's been engaged since 37 weeks, not sure what he's doing in there!

You're still 8 days away from your due date and you could go to 42 weeks and still not be overdue. Be happy you're not having any symptoms and enjoy your last few weeks of freedom!

Totally normal. I went into labour at 40+5, my waters broke 40+6, EMCS at 41. Before 40+5 absolutely nothing

Report
FuzzyOwl · 02/06/2016 13:25

I didn't have any BH and two weeks before my baby was due my colleagues were telling me how high my bump was and that I would probably end up being a fortnight late. A few hours later, my waters broke and then I lost my plug; my baby was born that evening.

DS was born at 39+6. I saw the midwife on 39+5, I'd had zero signs of anything coming, she confirmed that baby was only 2/5 engaged and agreed it didn't look like he was coming anytime soon. Went off to bed that night convinced DS was going to be 2 weeks over and I'd be induced.

Woke up at 3.30am with the whole shebang - contractions, a bloody show and waters slowly leaking from that point on! DS arrived that evening after 18 hours in labour!

My plug only went after a sweep 8 days past due date and my waters as I reached 10cm dilated about 16 hours later. 14 mins from waters going to delivery. Stay relaxed and enjoy some rest!

With DS2 birth 11 days ago at 37+4 I had no signs when going to bed. No show as with my first, no head engaged. My water broke at 3 am and got a bit of a show. He was born at 10:49pm after a momath nap in the afternoon Grin
