So, er...tell me how to make piles feel better

I'll just leave my dignity at the door.

I've got piles. 30 weeks with DC2. Never had it before. Didn't get it at any point with DC1. Even with a fairly extended pushing phase to get her out. I'm not particularly constipated and haven't been aware of straining unduly. I have a relatively good diet - 5+ fruit and veg most days.

I looked at the NHS advice and it said to push it back in with a bit of Vaseline. Which I did. Blissful relief for all of two minutes before it popped out again. Same thing a couple of times so I've now given up as its just making it more sore.

So. What do I do? Can't get to a Dr till Wedmesday so what is there over the counter that I can use in the meantime? Any other tricks to get some relief?

Is birth going to be horrendous now?

Sore and fed up. And it hurts too much to do pelvic floor exercises so I'll probably be weeing myself in a day or two.

Any help or even a bit of sympathy which is apparently beyond DH gratefully received.

soak a wedge of cotton wool in distilled with hazel and place onto affected area - leave for a couple of hours. Works a trick for me and I'm 34+2.

Sympathy by the bucket load. A bath, cream/Vaseline so it's not running, lots of over the counter creams but can't remember which I used in pregnancy - all much of a muchness to me in their effectiveness.
I've heard of sitting on a rubber ring to relive pressure, I think, unless I have made that up.

Doctor prescribed me Anusol which has helped. Maybe go see GP/ask pharmacist.

Sorry noticed you can't get to GP. My GP told me Anusol is fine in pregnancy

Vitamin E cream worked for me.

You need germaloid the germaline version of anusol. It's got the best numbing action. You also need to take paracetomol if the pain gets really bad. You also need to rest and be active but not be on your feet all day. Doctor won't give you anything unless you really really are suffering a lot then they may give you some steroid suppositories or a cream but they aren't keen because it's steroids. It will go - though. Afterwards
I was in tears because of piles during my last pregnancy.

Go to a chemist and get the spray Germaloids.

Yeah to germaloid cream. A wet muslin cloth in yer bum crack is soothing (cold shrinks them a bit) and get to the GP for some steroid cream as soon as you can. Lie down in the meantime as standing aggregates them. You have my sympathies - I had horrendous piles with DS2 but take heart because labour was fine and now they've totally gone. Good luck

Ok thank you all. I feel a bit tearful! Chemist first thing and will try and get my feet up a bit more tomorrow.

hens it's reassuring to hear your labour was ok. Am feeling much more nervous about it now than I was though!

I found cream irritated mine even more so in a moment of haste applied some talcum powder and it helped a lot! You have my sympathy, mine kept waking me up they were so bad! Blush
