Stiches when pregnant...

I'm currently 7 months pregnant. In the last week or so, I have had a severe stich in my side when I walk at a normal pace. It's like the stich younger when running, but I'm only walking! Tonight, I had to really slow down to a snail pace. I'm not too worried as baby is moving lots, and I'm seeing the midwife on Thursday, so will mention it then, but wondered if anyone else had this?

Hi I'm behind you at 26+5 and I got a fantastic stitch up the right side of my bump whilst walking at a normal pace last week. I had to stop and hobble all the way home as the stitch wouldn't pass until I had a sit down at home.
As you said, I used to get bad stitch when running but not walking! I had a Google and there are lots of threads of women experiencing similar around this time.
I think it's likely just the weight of the uterus pulling on everything as you're walking and possibly the ligaments. I've walked slightly slower this week and it hasn't happened again.
Probably our bodies telling us to slow down a little bit...!

It's round ligament pain and it's agonising. Used to bring me to my knees sometimes.

Lying on my back with my legs bent, knees together and rocking knees from side to side helped.

A bump belt helps as well, gives extra support.

Great, so it sounds like it could be here to stay Sad I'm supposed to be doing a fun 'run' (I say run, I always planned on walking it!) Over the next bank holiday. It's only a mile, but depending if I'm still getting them, I may need to sit it out

I found it came in spurts, like when my bump grew rapidly all of a sudden.

But if you're doing a long waddle then I would recommend a belt.

Thanks gamer, I'll have a look at one of those.
