Would you ring the triage line about this? And am I just being a wimp?

I'm not getting a lot of sleep due to dd1 being ill over the weekend, and more long-term dd2 has tummy problems that keeps her awake at night. I'm 29 weeks.

Anyway, at work today I was tired. Then started feeling really odd and rough. And backache. And really strong pains/braxton hicks contractions every 10 minutes.
I am on my feet all day so made sure I took a proper break at lunch and drank lots of water.
It got worse, so I came home ill.

Anyway after an hour or so I started feeling better and the pains stopped, but I still feel tired and just "off".

Anyway, is it worth ringing triage even though it's now better? Am I being a wimp? And should I ring in sick tomorrow to rest?

Any opinions welcome! Grin

I would see how you feel after more rest sounds like you have just over done it. If you begin to feel worse though a call won't do any harm good luck! Flowers

I think you're right in that I've just overdone it - started clearing up after dinner and tidying up toys etc and it started up again :(

Sometimes BHs can be set off (some from in my own experience - each time I have loads of BHs every evening from about 25 weeks!) by a urine infection, thrush, not drinking enough, having a full bladder, constipation, doing too much etc.

That said, if things aren't settling, do call. You are the only advocate for this baby!

I wouldn't worry too much about BHs (although these were painfully strong and regular/frequent) but also the feeling crap with it.

I think if I manage to get a decent night's sleep tonight, and feel OK in the morning I'll go in. If I don't, I won't, although I feel a bit bad about letting exam classes down (teacher)

I wouldn't ring triage or in sick unless I really couldn't face going in / it wasn't something I could ignore. Do mention it at next MW appt.

Make sure to keep posting on here ... we will organise the knitting at our end Grin

I wouldn't go in, and get seen asap tomorrow/if it gets worse sooner. I had milder symptoms with DD at 32 weeks, went to get checked before work just for peace of mind and turned out I was 3cm and in labour, had her that evening and didn't feel anything until 5cm. Definitely rest either way!

Well I couldn't keep teaching with These BHs - had to keep stopping to breathe. In my other pregnancies I had BHs from about 35 weeks that would make me go "oooh", but only in the evenings. They only became painful during labour! But these today were properly painful.

Ring! I've changed my tune. Just talk them thru what you've been thru. MWs know when you should be checked.

Always ring, and call in sick if you need to. Take care of yourself!

A friend of mine had something really similar a couple of weeks ago, she wasn't sure what to do but luckily had a mw app that day mw sent her up for monitoring because they baby's heart rate wasn't right, they took blood and it turned out to be nothing but based on her mw sending her to be monitored I would maybe call them.

In my 3rd pregnancy I had much worse BH, it was as if my utertus was tighter and I could feel them more strongly. Worse when tired, stressed, dehydrated. I got used to them in the end And the few nights I didn't have them I was worried something was wrong. I've no real advice though, sorry.

I "feel" I should ring but I tend to just worry so doubt myself IYSWIM? Grin

Ok, as soon as I've got the kids out of the bath I'll ring. :). Thanks for the advice and reassurance. I really don't want dc#3 turning up early so don't want to risk it!

The most sensitive indicator of baby's health is foetal movements. You've not mentioned that. Is baby moving ok and in the normal pattern that you would expect for your baby.

Are you otherwise well or at risk of other illness. Eg gestational diabetes will increase your risk of urine infection etc, has our blood pressure been fine??

If baby is moving well, and you have no other worrying signs like bleeding, pains (not painless tightening), headache, ankle swelling, severe new/unusual indigestion type pains, then I would be reassured. But it would be perfectly acceptable to take the morning off tomorrow and book to see the MW or the GP for a urine dip, Blood pressure check and a listen in. Anything worrying above warrants investigation tonight via the triage line.

Be cautious and monitor those movements.

Hope you feel better soon.

Can't get through on the line - either engaged or ringing out so I'm presuming they have a real emergency going on.

Baby is moving, but not as much as I would as I would expect at this time of an evening.
Yes I have headache, and my fingers are swollen so I've had to take my rings off although my ankles look ok. I'm also in my 40s so ancient Grin . blood pressure has always been fine to low when measured previously.

I would always ring in and I cannot understand for the life of me why anyone would not? The midwives are there to help so why wouldn't you ask their advice?

Go in. Please. I didn't and the consequences were horrible. Just go in and have them check you.

Try again. You obviously feel like something isn't quite right. Hope all is ok.

SusanAndBinkyRideForth · 09/05/2016 19:48

I'll try again in a minute.
The reason I was hesitant to ring in is because I hate being patronised and treated like a time waster...

Yeah they said to get checked out tomorrow, unless it starts up again tonight - in which case ring again and go in :)

If in doubt always check it out! They'd rather see you and everything be fine than you wait and something be really wrong. Xxx
