I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
//sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
//www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
//links.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Hi everyone! Well, I thought I was getting a bit better the last few days as I had slightly more energy and have been sat up more than laid down during the day, but today and yesterday ive felt as bad as ever. Really fed up of being in bed but it's all I can manage to do without feeling ill. I have another week signed off work but would love to go back after that as my year 2s have their SATs so I'd really like to support them.

Hi ladies!! Long time no speak Lucinda 😁

Glad to see this thread is still going strong, it helped me through some truely awful months in my second HG pregnancy.

Hang on in there ladies, I know how you feel
and how it feels like it never going to end but it does and it's worth it, my 2 HG babies are 4 years old and 10 months old. I wouldn't wish HG on anyone, I actually got sterlised in January as there is no way I could have coped with another pregnancy.

Massive well done to Lucinda for keeping this thread up, she's great 👍

fresh glad the scan went well.
Rae Dhs do worry bless them. Hope you are resting up.
twinkle Do take it easy. The tiredness is the worst for HG. My Dh can't understand how I can be bored with doing nothing.
hello It's always good to hear that it does end.
Ickle I don't think the exercises are helping my spd anymore. It's getting worse with how the baby is positioned. Spd is awful.
Had second sweep today. The consultant didn't write down in my notes that I could be induced before due date so I've got to wait until next week to get it confirmed. I'm devastated. The sickness is back, the nausea is worse and I'm barely sleeping because the spd pain is crippling. I've had enough of this and can't stop crying.

Thanks for the new thread lucinda.

ickle sounds like you are def overdoing it but as someone who admittedly has done far too much today, I know just how hard it is. Your day with DS yesterday sounds lovely tho. My DS has had me running around after him in the garden all afternoon!

fresh so pleased to hear the scan went well and ok the plus side, you get to see bugs again in a couple of weeks.

rae pleased to hear your trip out of the house went well. Those first few trips really do take it out of you. Fingers crossed you might be able to enjoy some fresh air and enjoy the sunshine this weekend. As others have recommended, def plan a good phased return. I was really lucky that I could and still can work from home if I need to.

squeezed I really hope this second sweep works. Did the midwife say things were looking good? I know when my friend went for a sweep she was told things were so closed up still it wasn't looking promising.

Hi to everyone else, hope mop and other mummies are all enjoying their little bundles.

I've had a good few days nausea/sickness wise but really struggling with heartburn, piles, swollen ankles and a nice shooting pain down my bum cheek when I walk. I've been prescribed some gaviscon advance and pile cream this morning. Not much I can do about the pain and swollen ankles other than rest up I guess but that's very difficult when working and looking after a toddler (although admittedly I have been moving garden furniture & lifting bags of compost today). Shattered again so heading to bed shortly.

Just marking place on the new thread and saying thanks so much for all the nice messages. DD2 Is so lovely, am really enjoying the delicious newborn phase (although struggling with extremely painful stitches - can't sit down!).
Squeezed, so sorry to hear how bad things are. Really hope you don't have much longer to go.
Fresh, I'm so pleased to hear your scan went well, I bet you're feeling relieved.
Sleepy, your poor body! Try to take it easy.
Must dash, she's woken up! Waves to all!

Thank you, everyone, from Mother Hen.
squeezed Poor you. Oh dear. I do feel for you. It's so hard for those who are unlucky enough to suffer throughout to endure any additional time after such a marathon.
HelloHello Lovely to hear from you. Thanks for kind words.
SleepymrsE Oh no, that sounds awful. Is the pain in bum cheek sciatica or an aspect of spd?
Twinkle It's really good of you to want to go back to work, but you know what Mother Hen is going to say (winks at icklekid). Do try and get your sick note extended. You're in no state to work if you can hardly sit up.
Lovely to hear from MotherofPearl and everyone.

Not sure what the pain in lucinda. I did get some pain at the very end with my last pregnancy but it was never this early.

Spoke too soon about the sickness. Woke up with a panic in the night and was violently sick quite a few times until absolutely nothing left in my stomach. No idea where it came from as wasn't feeling too nauseous before bed, just tired. Took gaviscon advance before sleep so shouldn't have been heartburn related. Felt shocking at the time but not feeling too bad - thankful that DS has only just woken so a nice long lie in.

squeezed sorry to hear you're feeling so low. I hope that things happen soon for you.

Sleepy also sorry to hear that you're suffering. Pregnancy is so glamorous isn't it. I was hoping you'd have a good rest last night- HG is just relentless Flowers

I feel ok(ish) today, so DH and I are hoping to go for a little wander around the nearest market town to us this afternoon. I've said I want to have something to eat before we go so a lot will depend on whether I keep it down. I'd like to give it a go as my 12 week scan is on Wednesday and I'm a bit worried about how long I'll be out of the house for then! Hopefully today will give me a bit of confidence.

Oh squeezed you poor thing. I'm livid on your behalf about the not being induced thing - could they not contact the consultant to check, FFS?! Fingers crossed for you baby comes soon/ they agree to induce.
fresh really pleased to hear all good with scan - these things make it all worth it.
Well done rae on venturing out! Weather is so lovely. I'm in the garden on a lounger although had forgotten heavily pregnant ladies can't lie on front, grr! Went in for a pillow and just woken from snooze on my lounger, DD miraculously still napping (must be the hot weather).
sleepy sorry to hear about violent vom. Hopefully randomly means baby will be here soon.
I've had rough few days. I think my blood sugar dropped too low thurs morning, has v dizzy wobbly spell as hadn't eaten for a long time, took me hours in bed to recover. Generally feeling exhausted, but saw consultant who said baby is doing well, my BP is v low, and he cleared me as fit to fly so we're taking DD away for a holiday. I'm rather worried about the journey etc etc but will dose up and hopefully change of scenery will do me good.
Waves to everyone, hope your weekends are going ok X

Raeskywalker Outside - what a lovely picture. I hope the fresh air makes you feel almost good! Well, I'd like you to feel good, but I don't want to speak too soon.
SleepymrsE Sorry to hear of that unidentifiable pain.
My goodness, it's warm, after a miserable spring. I hope everyone is OK today.

Hello! Just popping in to join the new thread and try to catch up. I hope everyone is managing as well as is possible and the sun has visited you.

I haven't managed to say hello this week as DH has been away so I have been trying to muddle through with DD without his help. A friend very kindly came to stay overnight on Weds to look after DD and let me rest which was a big help, thank goodness for lovely friends!

Minor panic at the beginning of last week as I suddenly started bleeding but an early scan at the EPU showed all was well at this point thankfully. Miserably, my first thought when I realised something might be wrong was slight relief that it might mean the sickness would be over soon. Not really a great way to think about it but I am not sure feeling like this makes the most rational I have ever been in my life. Does anyone else find they feel a bit switched off to the pregnancy in the early months because you feel so horrible?

Report
LucindaE · 07/05/2016 19:51

Nuttypops Sorry to hear of scare, glad all was well. Most people feel switched off and many fear they will not bond, but do not fear, it comes, and often at once.
It is very brave of you coping with LO alone, my goodness. Don't feel any guilt about cut off feelings. It is perhaps the only way to cope with such a horrible experience.

mrsmonkey sorry to hear you've been struggling, lovely news about all progressing well with the baby though. Where are you going on holiday?

Thanks Lucinda. I am absoloutely exhausted after only being out for an hour but have just managed to eat a massive bowl of soup. Very proud of myself and hoping it stays down!

Nutty your friend sounds fab! Really sorry to hear about the scare and am glad all is ok. I'll confess that I had some very dark thoughts when I was in hospital- DH arrived to find me sobbing and saying I was a horrible person. I think it's quite natural to feel that way when you're so low physically- I do still feel guilty about it now though.

mop you need a rubber ring to sit on...honestly was amazing last time when sitting was painful!

rae congratulations on getting outside it was such a beautiful day

nutty Yes very much switched off and have to say scans were incredibly helpful at reengaging with baby and seeing he/she move helped. Now I get kicked most hours to remind me...I refuse to feel bad though as just how it is when coping with hg. Just like I found it hard to bond with ds when he was colicky!

squeezed also very cross about lack of communication from consultation for you. Can you get in touch to clarify? Hope sweeps have an effect soon!

Lovely to hear from you icant hope all is going well!

mrsmonkey enjoy your holiday and make sure you do rest whilst there. Hope sickness improves again quickly

sleepy it's so nice to let them just run around (great full that dh could do the chasing today though!) However by 5.30 ds was shattered and refused to eat any of the 3 possible tea that I ended up making for him. He was crying, I was crying...tomorrow we will be doing main meal at lunch to avoid this!

Thanks for new thread lucinda apologies for anyone I've missed. Ds just woke so going to go grab him and stop the crying...why so early on a weekend child??!

After my self indulgent pity post I'm pleased to say that baby squeezed is now here Grin It was a very quick labour, got a bit worrying, then was all over. I've just eaten toast, a tuna mayo sandwich, an apple, and yoghurt. I DON'T FEEL SICK! Also spd is easing despite the battering my pelvis took.
Thank you all for your wonderful support over these 8 months. I can't believe how the sickness goes, it is truly amazing!
