Do you keep your phone near your bump?

I'm almost 27 weeks and fairly addicted to my mobile. I keep it in my pocket and sometimes prop it up on my bump when I'm using it in the evening. My friend told me off for it yesterday and said I shouldn't have it so close. Just wondered what other mums-to-be thought as I've never heard this before!

Your friend sounds daft!

Never heard such rubbish.

I'm sure my phone would've been near my bump often and it doesn't appear to have damaged my 2 year old!

My husband once mentioned this to me so I asked my midwife and she looked at me like I was mental.

I've sat every night of this pregnancy texting DP and surfing with it in my lap so it's a bit late now anyway.

I also work in a school with wifi and in rooms of 30 plus students all with mobiles so better hope it's okay lol.

There's no reliable scientific evidence of it doing any harm at the moment, which doesn't exclude it may be found to be harmful in the future, if that makes any sense. Excessive use of mobiles has been linked to brain tumours in adults, so they have been proven harmful in a different context. Personally, I don't keep my phone in my pocket and try not to use it much near my bump.
