Too soon to shop?

Just wondering when everyone started baby shopping?

We've seen an amazing offer in a local pram shop on the bugaboo cam, which they're selling along with a maxi cosi cabriofix car seat and the isofix base for £650. They only have a sale once a year and it's only on for another week.

The thing is we will still only be 13 weeks at this point and due to hospital scheduling will only just have had our 12 week scan.

Is waiting until after the scan still too soon to buy a big item like this?

I don't know if I'm being swayed more by an amazing deal on our dream pram, or by all the horror stories about things going sadly wrong.

Grateful for some perspective!

I think your quite safe once you have had your 12 week scan, usually if anything is going to happen it will be within that time frame. With my first we brought the pushchair when I was 15 weeks pregnant as we also found a very good deal! I'm now pregnant with my second (about 8 weeks) and we have just found an amazing deal with a new nursery furniture set reduced from £800 to £400 (hard to say no to!) I think we will buy it but both me and hubby have agreed it will go to my parents until our scan! I hope this helps! Xx

We waited till after 20 wk scan to think about shopping. You have got plenty of time. Have you checked the price against online shops? Also maxi cosi do a base that does two seat not just the infant seat (2wayfix) so means you only buy one for 1st four years, cabriofix and easy base are only up to 12 months so not a very cost effective way even when in a deal IMO. Independents will often do a deal on a bulk put case even outside of sale time, a sale is just a chance to get rid of old stock and bad sellers. Congrats and hope all is well at the scan Smile

I sadly lost twins that I carried for 23 weeks. I am so glad that I hadn't bought a pram, cot or anything else. We did however buy a bigger car for transporting them and their pram. It still hurts now to look at that empty back seat, so goodness knows what it would have been like if we'd had to return or sell a pram or cot. I am now 15 weeks pregnant with a single baby and the risks are a lot less that they would be with twins, but even so I am waiting til the last couple of months to go shopping for anything. I have heard too many horror stories from the support group I go to. It has made me very cautious.

We bought our pram at 14 weeks for exactly the same reason 29 weeks now and still glad we did. The shop will keep it for us till the end of next month when we'll go for it! If you're sure it's the one you want and a good deal I'd get it Smile

I'm 16 weeks and impatient to start shopping but holdong off even looking until next scan (either private at 17 weeks or normal 20 week scan). Terrified something will go wrong still
