Hi all!

This is my first pregnancy, and I am super early (4+2)! Attached this mornings tests... I'm addicted to POAS!

Please could you drop off your pregnancy advise! Things to do, things not to do, what you should avoid (foods etc)!

Thank you lovelies! Xx

SLEEP.

SLEEP.

And sleep some more.
Tiredness in early pregnancy is a killer for me. First time round wasn't so bad, as I only worked part time so I could sleep when u wasn't working. This time round, I'm a SAHM to a veeerrrryy active 11 month old confused and sleep is a very valued commodity!
The foods to avoid are listed on the NHS website....all though some of those are questionable hmm I understand avoiding the mould-ripened cheeses, and all liver products - but there's no way the odd dippy egg is going to do any harm!!
As you get bigger, invest in comfy shoes!

WickerHearts Sun 17-Apr-16 08:43:53

Totally agree with MyBreadIsEggy...sleep is going to be a huge part of your life! I'm only 9 weeks and at the moment my bed is my best friend, esp after working at 45hr week.
If you're not already, get taking some prenatal vits, or at least folic acid and vit D.
Have plain biscuits, crackers in the house incase morning sickness catches you.
Most of all, enjoy growing a new little life inside of you 😍

Sleep

Eat little and often

Enjoy it

IamChipmunk Sun 17-Apr-16 09:51:53

Yes to sleep!

Also the nhs website is the most reliable for what not to eat.

MintyBojingles Sun 17-Apr-16 09:57:13

Sleep, relax, gentle exercise, and try not to read too much that makes you worry!

raddersmrs Sun 17-Apr-16 18:25:46

I too have just found out I am pregnant. Super early, I haven't missed my period yet, it's due on Tuesday but tests are positive.

When do I need to ring doctors and let them know?
When would the first appointment be?

I've just realised I was so clued up on conceiving but I'm not clued up on actually being pregnant!

Ps congratulations!

murphyslaws Sun 17-Apr-16 18:31:59

Cut down on caffeine.
No mouldy cheese
No pate
No raw meat
No runny eggs
No smoking
No drinking.

Sleep as much as you can especially in early months as you will get sleepie
No heavy lifting

Tell doctor so they get everything sent off for your 12 week scan

Most of all enjoy!

You can have runny eggs as long as they are lion stamped!
But yes sleep and eat little and often is good advice.
Here you phone up the central midwife number and book yourself in. Completely separate to the Drs surgery. It seems to be different everywhere though! Those first few weeks go so slowly(and then so do the last few!)

WickerHearts Sun 17-Apr-16 19:13:56

Radders, you were on the thread I was on in conception...glad you got your BFP!!! Congratulations!!
Let your gp know, they'll refer you to a midwife and they'll get you a 'booking appointment' sorted for when you're 8-10 weeks. Annoyingly until the booking appointment it's just a waiting game xx

frikadela01 Sun 17-Apr-16 19:19:13

Ring your gp reception and ask them the process of booking in. I've had several friends who just booked a gp appointment and we're disappointed when the gps response was basically "congratulations what do you want me to do about it" (not quite that blunt but you get the drift). I think self referring to the midwife is becoming more and more the norm.

As for everything else, try not to worry. I know easier said than done but I wasted so much time in the beginning worrying and it made things much harder, especially in the beginning before you have scans or anything. You just have to trust that your body knows what it's doing.

seven201 Sun 17-Apr-16 19:40:31

Congratulations. The first trimester goes sooo slowly and is fully of worry!

I echo the ask reception at gp about what to do - when I rang gp they just gave me the phone number for the local midwife unit.

raddersmrs Sun 17-Apr-16 19:46:04

Thanks everybody

Wicker - hi! I know we were smile can't believe I've got a Bfp. Found out yesterday on my birthday and then did another test this morning and the line is darker... So happy but doesn't feel real! Especially as AF is not due until Tuesday and I'm sure I was only 9dpo with BFP.

I will ring the doctors tomorrow and see what they say.

I do think this trimester will be a worry but going to try and stay calm. Has anyone ever paid for one of those early scans?

RaeSkywalker Sun 17-Apr-16 19:48:25

I'm 9 weeks today. My tips based on my experience so far:
- folic acid and Vitamin d.
- eat little and often. I'm mostly grazing on Rice Krispies.
- recognise constipation early and get something from the chemist if it happens, it's not nice at all if you ignore it blush
- if you're struggling, don't suffer in silence. I've had to tell work as I've got HG and really need their support.
- lots of sleep. Sickness is worse if you're tired.

Congratulations flowers

Wicker!!
Your on here!! 😬 I got my BFP yesterday! I'm 4+3! I didn't want to post on the conception page on that other thread it was a bit dark!

Congrats raddersmrs aswell! Eek how exciting! XXXX

raddersmrs Sun 17-Apr-16 19:56:08

I didn't either chapman.... I didn't feel comfortable saying it!

I've not got any symptoms at the moment so I'm waiting for them to hit me. I feel a bit nauseas but I don't know if that's because I'm still anxious that this isn't real.

WickerHearts Sun 17-Apr-16 19:57:12

Radders and Chapman I'm so pleased for you both!!! Hooray!!! Aww how exciting! I know I wanted to know how you were getting on, but I felt bad asking confused xx

raddersmrs Sun 17-Apr-16 19:58:35

Congratulations chapman too, sorry!
When people say 4 +3 ... What does this mean? +3? blushblush

makingmiracles Sun 17-Apr-16 19:59:07

Stilton is ok but Danish blue not apparently, I heard Brie is to be avoided too

Emmas127 Sun 17-Apr-16 19:59:24

Thanks for the congrats and advice everyone! Will be ringing the GP tomo to see what the process here is!

I've been worried since I got my BFP, but this evening I've had a good talk with myself, if anything bad is going to happen, worrying won't stop or solve it smile

Congrats to you other ladies!

I've not even started to read the do's and dont's I'm just getting around the fact I'm up duffed!
When is everyone due?

Raddersmrs I only had constipation and no acne and no sciatica that's when I knew or I had an incling! XXXX

KateBeckett Sun 17-Apr-16 20:04:25

Don't feel guilty if you don't enjoy it! The first trimester and most of the second were not fun at all for me thanks to feeling constantly sick and being sick a fair amount.

I'm now 28 weeks and the sickness has finally eased off- dp and I are enjoying it a lot more now!

raddersmrs Sun 17-Apr-16 20:04:34

Ah, what an idiot...! Of course. Thank you

WickerHearts Sun 17-Apr-16 20:10:59

The first trimester is full of worry! Seems so odd when you think about it that you go through a third of your pregnancy without really being seen by anyone. Im 9 weeks now, can't wait to have our 12 week scan and know everything is ok. Though finding tiredness and sickness a real pain in the butt confused xx
