Help - small baby and high PI?

Hi - just wondering if anyone has experienced this and what their outcome was?

My baby has never moved much so at 30 weeks I went for a private scan with a consultant at my hospital as that was the only way I could get my concerns noted. (Ctg was always ok so midwives said everything was fine)

Turns out gut instinct was right and I had a small baby (below 10th percentile).

I've been having fortnightly scans and she's been growing at steady rate on her 8th centile curve but yesterday at 34+1 weeks they found the umbilical artery pi was higher than they wanted (over 95%) so I'm now on twice weekly scans as they're concerned about placenta failure.

I'm frankly a bit of a wreck today - it's been a difficult pregnancy anyway and the lack of movement generally means it's hard to monitor myself if she's ok day to day.

Has anyone had any of this and how did it turn out please?

I'm sorry to hear about your experience.

I developed high blood pressure during pregnancy, so was sent for additional scans and monitoring. At a growth scan at 38 weeks, they discovered the umbilical artery pi was above the 95th percentile. I was admitted straight away and was induced the following morning, as my blood pressure had risen to 160/110 despite medication. DD was born perfectly healthy.

I had issues with PI at the 20 week scan. Concern over baby's size etc so has scans every four weeks until 36 weeks. Also I was already on baby aspirin which is a recommended dose apparently with PI issues. I'm 39 weeks tomorrow and measuring fine for my dates.

Baby scans have shown a good increase in size, so hoping all will be well. Good luck OP. It's so bloody terrifying, all this uncertainty

I had high PI detected at 23 week scan and put on baby aspirin. Am currently on 3 weekly scans so far so good and the PI has improved to normal range but they are keeping an eye closely still.
Very scary having extra tests etc but at 34 weeks you are going well and the close monitoring is good they will quickly spot any issues.

Thank you for all your replies - I'll ask about aspirin next time as it hasn't been suggested yet. Had another scan today and no change which is as good as it gets I think. Now just got to get to Thursday and we'll get a date for a c-section assuming all continues along the same route.

Hello sorry I know to this is an old thread but what happened in the end? I'm 34 weeks and the PI is now measuring above 95% and baby's growth has started to slow. They are going to do CTG scans twice a week, a Doppler every week and a growth scan every two weeks but it's stressing me out (particularly as my first child was born only 4lb full term because the placenta failed and it wasn't picked up)

What does high PI mean I had growth scan today and I have high pi is it something to worry about. Something about the blood flow from my placenta to umbilical cord is high
