Pregnancy

29 weeks and breathless

Is anyone else experiencing this?!

I'm 29 weeks but this is DC3 and I am pretty big already (both DSs over 9lb). I don't mind the being big so much as the fact that over the last few days I have become completely breathless. Just walking up the stairs is making me have to stop and catch my breath. Needed a sit down this morning after a 5 min walk to drop DS1 off at an activity. I just feel so unfit! I don't remember feeling like this with my previous pregnancies until much later. Add in the constant heartburn and general uncomfortableness and the next 10 weeks could be pretty grim!

I had a scan on Monday and the baby is breech/transverse (or was at the time, could have moved by now I guess) so not sure if that's contributing to how out of breath I am.

Anyone else finding this or do I just need to accept that I'm completely unfit?!

If it is just in the last few days that you have become suddenly breathless, rather than it gradually creeping on to you for weeks, I'd consider seeing your GP to talk to them and for them to listen to your heart/lungs in case it was anything serious

breathlessness can be a sign of anaemia so I would contact your midwife/gp to get it checked

I'm 31 weeks with DC1 and also started feeling breathless over the last couple of days. I've also got a pretty big bump and a baby that's measuring in the 90th centile. I think its just the pregnancy though not anything more serious in my case. I read yesterday that your uterus comes up 4 inches above your belly button at this stage in pregnancy, so thinking of it like that the lungs are bound to be getting a bit squashed. I don't think it's "because you are completely unfit" as I know I feel the same and don't think i'm unfit per say. I have tried to stay pretty active in pregnancy and am still walking for at least 1 1/2 hrs a day now, even though it's a bit harder now. I spoke to another mum to be at pregnancy yoga last night and she said when she got to 35 weeks and her baby bump "dropped" and she could breathe again. So that reassured me a bit.

Glad it's not just me!

I do think it's just a general pregnancy thing - baby also on the 90th percentile so no doubt everything's a bit squished in there! Had my 28 week bloods taken on Monday which will check for anaemia so sure I'll hear if I need any iron tablets (hope not!)

I've had it really bad too. I've also got breech baby. Everything is fine statistics wise midwife just says it's one of those things

God I could of written your post word for word! 3rd baby, 29wks, breach, can't breath and feel so unfit - I've spent the last 2 days lying on the sofa being climbed on by a 3yr old and a 16m old!

Sadly, I do think it's just pregnancy... It got me like this with my 2nd but a little later on, the thought of 10 more weeks is killing me. I also think it's the position of the baby; it's head is so far under my right rib everything is exhausting me!

Hopefully I will get a couple of weeks of energy at some point, as I have absoloutly nothing ready for the impending arrival!

Sorry no advice, just wanted to share in the discomfort!

I had a terrible spell of breathlessness during my last pregnancy. I thought it was because dd was breech but it turned out I was slightly anaemic, apparently being even a bit can make you breathless. By the time my bloods had come back it had righted itself! Try eating some iron rich foods, if you're borderline you might not have to take the supplements.

Pregnant with dc3 here too. 29 weeks and also breathless. Midwife says it's because she's breech.

It's much more common to have breech babies with later pregnancies apparently. Saggy uterus Hmm

They should spin over in the next few weeks!
