Bright coloured sleep suits

Has anyone found any nice sleep suits / babygrows / vests in bright colours and unusual designs that aren't too expensive? We don't know if we're having a boy or a girl, and in any case I find the standard choices of pink, blue or beige with the occasional grey thrown in a bit dull. I love the kind of stuff Love It, Love It, Love It do, but it's too pricey to kit out an entire baby in! Hoping to find budget alternatives.

Well I don't know about budget but Next do unisex ones with a lot of orange and yellow that are very cheerful. They also run large so last beyond the age on the label I.e. turn out good value in the end.

Polarn o pyret do lovely stuff and they last for ages, stretchy. My son was born 10lb 5oz and fit in the 0-1month stuff for about 3months. Not cheap but often have sales on

Ive got some bright ones from next- think one is white with bright alphabet letters and animals, one white and orange striped with appliqué giraffe and one white with turquoise stripes.

I am not a fan of next children's clothes in general, however i always found their sleep suits really good (admittedly ds2 is now 6 so can't comment on their recent stuff with any authority but found the set above straight away when walking into their store).

I second next, DD had some lovely turquoise, red, royal blue and yellow ones she's in at the moment

Check out Little Bird by Mothercare and I second Polarn O Pyret. Lots of scandi brands have bright coloured baby clothes.

Also, lots of the scandi brands like Polarn O Pyret are quite expensive, but there are some very good scandi buy and sell pages on Facebook.

John Lewis do a lovely multi-pack of bright primary coloured vests - mix of stripes/plain. Not the cheapest but have washed really well and I don't mind paying a bit more for vests as they get so much use!

I have a baby boy and get really frustrated with all the 'boy' vest sets being predominantly blue - I often buy from the 'girls' pages to get better colours.

Polan O. Pyret are pricey but lovely unisex stuff - buy in the sale or secondhand. Likewise the Little Bird range at Mothercare...a lot of their stuff goes 50% off in the sale but you have to grab it quick.

I got some nice and bright stripey ones in BHS, in the sale. Came out as about £3 each I reckon. Try Primark and supermarkets?

Next - I've got the green dinosaurs, the animal print ones and the orange ones. Also I have their cheap white 5 pack baby grows as extras (£8 in the sale I think)

Also mamas and papas do 3 packs for price of 2 and in their events you get 20% off the top of that. I got bright yellow ones, ones with buses on and some other patterns.

To be honest by the time you get past newborn you won't care as long as you have enough to not keep washing!

M&S, Sainsburys and Lindex (a cheap scandi brand) all do nice bright colours. I hate pastels, particularly pastel pink, so I've got lots of mine from those places for DD1 and unborn DD2.

Little bird at mothercare are super cute and really bright designs. They had a kick ass little 70s range out - bring back memories of old family photos!

Lots of good suggestions already. The cheapest way we've done it is lots of plain white Sainsburys ones which are decent quality and had great fun doing some ice dyeing! We now have loads of bright, fun, individual babygros and vests

Not sure about a budget option though I don't think they are too expensive once you do the exchange, but my favorite baby clothes are coming from bonds.com.au, which is an iconic aussie clothing brand.

They have these babygrows called zip wondersuits that are fab, come in lots of different patterns and colours.. and the zip rather than snap together which makes dressing super easy. They also have great leggings in similar colours/patterns.

Prices are in australian dollars so you need to do the conversion yourself (divide price in half to get an approx cost) and you are subject to paying duty when they arrive in UK, but bonds does offer free shipping to UK for orders over $50 (about £25). Next, H&M and the baby clothes lines they have in Boots are all quite good! Next and H&M both have a bright unisex range with interesting patterns on. xx
