Weight gain

I know this is probably really unimportant but just curious to know if I'm on the average track- how much weight had you gained by 8 weeks?

I'm 8+1 and have gained about a kilo, from a healthy starting weight. Does this sound about right, or should I not be gaining this early on? Am really really keen not to gain too much weight throughout the course of my pregnancy, as it's likely I'll be doing this on my own so finding the time to lose it afterwards could be a struggle!

Don't worry, I'm 22 weeks and have gained 31lbs. I am absolutely horrified and not sure if it's normal!

By week 12 I'd lost 8lbs. By week 38, when I went in to labour I'd gained it back plus 1stone 10lbs.

I only found out I was pregnant a week ago and have lost a couple of pounds. Not drinking at the weekend is already working in my favour!

Littleredhead1983 Tue 22-Mar-16 18:45:41

Yeah, I was hoping the not drinking would work in my favour too, as it's a big change for me smile though I did just get back from the U.S. and I always manage to gain a few lb while I'm there!

Urgh I'm struggling to come to terms with the idea of getting big. I'm maid of honour for my best friend when I'll be about 17 weeks - from what I understand I'll have started to look kinda fat by then but not actually have an obvious bump- the worst time!!

By week 8 I had gained about at week 31 and since then have gained another 11lb so 1st 3lb in total......I've eat like a pig this week though so I'm expecting it's probably actually a bit more now lol

Kirjava Tue 22-Mar-16 18:54:18

I hadn't gained any weight by week 8. I'm 19 weeks and have gained 8lb so far.

I put on 3 stone during my pregnancies, and lost them again (without dieting).

Best to just go with the flow of your body. I remember going out for brunch with DP and crying because our order took so long blush

I am normally a very balanced eater (bmi around 22)

I am 18 weeks pregnant and so far I have gained 4 pounds.

Last time I was pregnant in total I gained 1 stone 5 pounds

You honestly have to stop worrying and go with the flow. Your body will do what it needs to,as long as you eat well and stay active.

I'm usually very slim, fit and active. I ran throughout both my pregnancies. First time round I hadn't put on anything by 8 weeks, gained 2st overall.

Second time I'd probably gained 10lb by 8 weeks, gained 4st overall - despite eating less and exercising harder than I did first time round. It makes no sense - although I did have a far bigger baby second time (91St centile compared to 50th).

aiming at 9kg total weight gain during this pregnancy but that all depends if both myself and baby will be happy with that smile not sure how to work out pounds but I guess it would around 18 pounds? That doesn't sound right but anyway my diet and exercise are really good so lets hope my body can bounce back quickly after baby xxx

Soda, I honestly wouldn't set a target weight gain. Your body will do what it needs to do in order to grow a healthy baby.

I said similar things at the beginning of my last pregnancy and feel so crap now - 8 weeks postpartum and still with a stone and a half to lose. First time round, I'd lost it all and more by this point.

My diet and exercise are also "really good" but sometimes it makes little difference. Don't be so hard on yourself - I wish I wasn't.

I wouldn't worry too much, easier said than done I know!
I checked my weight quite a bit to begin with as didn't want to go mad but found that it fluctuated so much due to water retention etc that I gave up and just tried to eat healthy(ish). I gained 2st5lbs overall and am now already nearly back to my starting weight 18weeks on.
Enjoy it and congratulations!

agree running! smile I have decided to just keep fit and do everything I can to have a healthy baby...setting a weight target was not a great idea....relaxing is so important

With DC1 I gained 1 stone by 12 weeks, a further 1.5 in the second trimester and another 1 in the third.... He was 3 weeks early... I'm 5'1 blush

The second I managed a far better 3 stone in total

Just try to make healthy choices! As long as you're not guzzling sugar and crap down every day and remaining active you should be fine

Gained 4 stone in total blush. Mostly fluid though. DS is ten days old and I have already lost 3 stone of it. Pretty sure the remainder is boob!!
