Harmony test

Hi, I was recently put in the high risk for a baby with downs. My scan was fine but my blood test put me at 1/42 of this happening. I've had the harmony test done privately at £570. I'm awaiting the results for this. Please can anyone tell me if they have been in this situation? How long did results take? What was your risk and outcome? I'm going insane waiting? Xx

I am in a similar situation to you OP. My risk came out as 1:96 and had the harmony test on Weds. Expecting results on Monday/Tues and going out of my mind with worry.

My NT was normal but bloods increased the risk factor.

Good luck, the likelihood is both of us will have good news but I am struggling to feel optimistic.

Have you opted to find out gender? When was your test?

Hi, my test was on Tuesday. I didn't want to find out gender as he said that could pick up more problems too. I just figured I didn't want anything else to stress about. My main worry is downs etc. Have you opted to find out gender? I just wish I never had the blood test in the first place. X

Yes we are going to find out. We would have at the 20wk scan point anyway so I figured I may as well get it earlier since I'm paying!

Of course the only thing I'm really concerned about is having a healthy baby.

I was low risk in my first pregnancy so didn't give the screening tests a second thought, especially when the NT measurement was normal. So it's all been a horrible shock and I feel completely in limbo until the results are back.

If your test was Tues you may even get your results today, or over the weekend if it's a private clinic. Mine was done at local hospital so I won't get a result until Monday at the earliest. I am desperate for the phone call but also dreading it.

My results were very similar - no issues at the scan, but my blood results came back with a 1 in 39 chance of Downs. We opted for the CVS, but the waiting, although shorter, was horrible.

I found it useful to think of the chance in terms of a percentage - so your 1 in 42 chance means that you have just over a 2.3% chance of a baby with Down's Syndrome, and a nearly 98% chance of the baby not having it. I found thinking of it as a 98% chance of it being OK much more reassuring. Our results came back fine in the end (on Christmas Eve afternoon, thanks to a kindly nurse who rushed them through before the Christmas break for us!) Hope yours do too.

I had a harmony test at 10 weeks. Also found out the sex of the baby. Took about 9 days to get the result.

I hope it all goes well for you X Flowers

Thank you panther79 what was your risk if you don't mind me asking? Was everything okay? X

No worries X
I had it done before I knew anything about the risk factor!
It was my first pregnancy ( my son is 5 weeks old today ) and I had gone for a private scan as I was paranoid due to no symptoms. The doctor mentioned the harmony test and we decided to take it.
The Nhs blood test showed my risk to be low but I had the harmony test done before this.
Am sorry I can't be of much help.
It will all be fine don't worry ( hard not to I know! )

My combined test came back 1 in 400. So low risk, technically, but much, much higher than my first pregnancy and enough to worry us, so we went for the Harmony. I had my bloods done first thing on a Tuesday morning and was called with the results the following Monday afternoon. It came back low-risk.

I know it's super stressful but as a PP suggested, think of it in terms of percentages - you've a less than 3% chance of it coming back positive. Best of luck.

My harmony took 7 days to come through.

Strictly speaking it is not diagnostic as there is not enough data however, for T21 it is 99% accurate, as in if you come back high risk it is highly likely your baby has Down's syndrome. This should have been explained to you really, it's a bit off that they didn't.

It depends on what you do with the results. If you want to know so that you can put a plan in p,ace for having a baby with T21 then I would say the harmony is accurate enough. If you decide you want a termination for medical reasons you will want/need a diagnostic cvs or amnio to confirm the diagnosis. It is unlikely that you will have a high/positive harmony screen and have a clear cvs or amnio.

Fingers crossed for you. Risk factors are generally pretty inaccurate so it is very possible that your baby is uneffected by a trisomy.

I just did the harmony test on Tuesday and got my results yesterday which was super quick I think! They told me 3-7 working days but it was only 2!

Like another poster this was my second pregnancy and the odds were so much higher than with my first (1:370) that it freaked me out a bit....anyway my mind is at rest and I'm having a little boy GrinGrinGrin I'm sure it will be fine for you too xx

I had mine this afternoon and all came back as low risk. Massive relief. I hope you've had good news too.
