Worried gender scan is wrong! Help!

Hi all, so I'm 37 weeks pregnant and keep panicking that my gender scan is wrong. I had a private gender scan at 20 weeks after my baby wouldn't cooperate at the nhs scan. They told me she is a girl and I have since bought loads of pink clothes! Can anyone tell me whether these pictures definitely look like a girl? I had my scan at baby bond. Thank you!

No one here can answer that for you! If you need to know book another scan!

It's not 100% accurate at best of times. It's only something like 80%.

I know someone told they were having a girl and turned out a boy. Not a big problem he wore pink but my baby girl was in lots of blue stuff.

Sorry I only have boys and both been VERY obvious....best thing would be to book another scan but asap as they will be reluctant to do them soon being so close to the end

I don't know but my ds is wearing his sister's hand me down pink babygrows, and doesn't seem to mind too much Grin

I had a private sexing scan (not baby bond) last pregnancy and was told it was a boy and they was correct.
My sister had a baby bond scan was told it was a boy and was correct.

I don't think the scans like anything are 100% but it is rare they get the sex wrong.

Only thing I can suggest is if you can afford it to treat yourself to another scan to stop you worrying

They told me ds was a girl. So it does happen.

It was very odd, as the consultant showed me his apparent vulva in great detail at the scan.

Also, I caught the baby myself and didn't think to check for a few minutes.

Everyone expounded on what a beautiful girl he was, until I piped up quietly "erm... I think it's a boy"

I am 37 weeks and also feeling the same panic!! I had a private scan and NHS scan and both said a girl. I have been so lucky with friends and family buying things for us and most of it is pink! The nursery is even painted pink. We have not even considered a boys name. It will be a bit weird if it is a baby boy, but I just think as long as he/she is healthy we can sort the rest out after. But I am like you slightly panicked because I feel I have bonded with 'her' as a 'her' if that makes sense.

My sons scan was very obvious he wasa boy. Congratulations!

I'm so glad I'm not alone! Honestly it's driving me mad! We have everything pink and no boys names. Yeah of course I just want the baby to be healthy and I guess we would just have to sell all the pink stuff if she is a boy. But yeah I feel like I've bonded with a girl too xx

Do any of your symptoms fall into the old wives tales? Apparently you feel more sick with a girl and get bad skin!

Report
Abbynk94 · 09/03/2016 16:23

I was more sick with this pregnancy than my son for sure!

I can't make out a baby on those scans , is it a part of the baby ?!?!

Just get another scan. Or buy some white clothes that will be suitable for either sex. No one here will be able to know for sure from your scan

Haha yeah definitely!

Oh wow! I guess it adds to the surprise of birth of anything! I wouldn't really mind, it's just selling the clothes which would be a hassle haha!

If the scan turns out to be wrong, just put the boy in the pink clothes - then you won't have to sell a thing.
It's traditional, apparently. In Victorian times, boys were put in pink as it's a "stronger" colour.

I don't know if this will be any reassurance for you but they wouldn't tell my friend the sex of her baby at her 20 week NHS scan because they weren't sure, so she went for a private scan and again, they did not tell her there either because they did not feel 100%. They told her they could come back and try again in a week or so once baby was in better position. On Third try they told her she is having a girl. I know they still can be wrong, but I would like to think that they only tell you if they feel positive they have the sex correct or they would rather not tell you at all.

I was thinking this actually, I have some lovely things that I would just put him in! No one who mattered would even care I'm sure!

That is really reassuring thank you! I was told the private scan I had was 99% accurate or they ask you to come back so I'm sure the sonographer was pretty sure. I think I'm just over thinking things to be honest! Xx

It's never 100% anyway. Just put him in the stuff you have bought already if you do end up having a boy, I'm sure he won't mind Grin
