Pregnancy

Anxiety, worries and mother in laws ....

Had anyone else felt increased anxiety and low mood in late pregnancy? I am 32 weeks and lately have just felt so s**t. I feel isolated, fed up and low and just don't know what to do about it.
My anxieties are not helped by interfering mother in law who has questioned and lectured at every desicion I have made so far. She refuses to cut the apron strings when it comes to my partner and even wants to be there at the birth!! Am I over reacting or is this a bit weird?
Everything feels overwhelming and over bearing and I just feel like running away.
Any advice is appreciated!!

Sound like there may be something in particular causing your anxiety? It's your birth and your baby. You get to say who's at the birth, people don't get to demand that they are there. How supportive is your DH of you in this?

2 separate issues but no you are not over reacting; it's not appropriate for your MIL to assume she will be at the birth! I suggest you have a frank chat with your DH to explain how his mother's behaviour is making you feel. It needs nipping in the bud and some boundaries establishing before the baby arrives.

In terms of the anxiety and low mood, it is very common in pregnancy. It's worth bringing up with your midwife; if they are any good they will give you some support with this.

My partner is half and half ... I think he feels loyalties to both sides. But this is our first child and I am nervous enough without others being there, and it's such a special moment I really think the birth itself should be our moment. I don't mean to be selfish or hurtful, it's just so frustrating. As my midwife said - she wasn't there when the child was conceived was she?!
It will also be emotionally and physically draining anyway and I would appreciate just a tiny bit of time post birth to adjust. Is this unreasonable - I don't know what is the norm?! I have 7 weeks to go today and just don't know how to deal with all of this!
I have been so busy and stressed working, organising stuff etc since the start of my pregnancy I feel like people are being so selfish now it should be time for me to relax and start slowing down.
Sorry for the ranting! Pregnancy is not what they make it seem like in romantic films sometimes!!!
