Lightning bolt pains

Hi all,

I'm 12 weeks pregnant today with my fifth pregnancy. History in a nutshell: 2 Ds's, one ruptured ectopic and one pregnancy which attached to my chest wall.

I've been scanned since 4 weeks with this pregnancy just to make sure that all is well and miraculously, it is. Today though, I've been having what I can only describe as lightning bolt pains. The kind of pains that come from nowhere and have me doubled over. Then it goes as quickly as it came. I've had these pains on and off for the last two hours. I've experienced stretching pain and round ligament pain before but this is something else. I've phoned the midwife who told me to ring the Early Pregnancy Unit. I've been trying the line for two hours and it's just ringing out.

I'm really worried and don't know what to do! Help!

Are you 100 per cent sure you've got the right number? Maybe try ringing the hospital and getting them to put you through to the EPU?

If you still can't get through to anyone and you're doubled over in pain I'd go to A&E with your history.

Hope it all works out well for you. Flowers

Thanks strawberry Definitely the right number as I practically have it on speed dial!

I've just been told that the EPU is closed today! I've just booked a private scan and consultation to avoid any further waiting. With my history, I'm done with the 'unknown' if that makes sense.
