Pregnancy

Signs of early labour

I'm 37+2 today, and I have been (sorry for TMI) loosing small bits of what seems like the mucus plug (pale yellow mucus-y discharge, not like any discharge I've had yet this pregnancy) over the last three days or so. I feel really nauseous and exhausted (I was ready for a nap an hour after I woke up), and have had a sore back and some period-y type cramping. Nothing that seems like contractions though - the crampy feeling will last for a bit and then go but doesn't ramp up in intensity. At my last appointment, baby was 1/5 engaged (4/5 palpable) so not that engaged yet. I also have a touch of SPD which is really sore at night - this has gotten much worse over the last week or so. Baby is still moving lots, her kicks and turns actually feel stronger (although not more frequent) - perhaps she's running out of room? She was measuring big at my last scan at 27 weeks (I think she was about 85% for her waist circumference). What do you guys think? Is this just normal end of pregnancy discomfort or is it a sign of imminent labour or what? My husband is so excited, he keeps asking me if I've gone into labour yet! Which isn't helping me take my mind off it! I spoke to the midwife who said just wait and see, but I'm hoping if any of you have had similar experiences it might give me some indication!

I started losing my plug at 27 weeks... DS was born at 41+1.

As for early signs, I didn't really have any. My waters broke when I got out of bed and then my son was born 4 hours later.

I did drive myself crazy looking out for signs that something would happen from 37 weeks though

Oh dear, that's not very conclusive! ;) I am too impatient for this! Gunting, that's exactly what I'm doing! I should stop but it's so hard, especially since I'm too tired to do much. Everythinggettingbigger, you poor thing, that must have been tough! Do any of you know if there is significance to losing the plug in bits as opposed to in one go? It seems logical that losing it in one go would indicate labour more imminently but then pregnancy doesn't seem very logical. Junosmum, I hope you are right! My sister in law just had her little girl at 35+3, baby and mom are both great and happily home, which is making the waiting even harder. She was due a week after me!

Started having period type pains that come and go, lasting about 30 seconds! Fingers crossed!

How are you today soon?

Sorry, didn't see your response! Have had contractions all day Monday but they never got very sore (they got to 2 min apart but not sore, sadly) and then had a few painful ones last night but they've all petered out. I'm so frustrated, contractions every few minutes for 24 hours seems like something should have happened! :( Saw the midwife today who said baby is still only 1/5 engaged but thought things sounded positive but had no idea when baby might arrive.
