Period Pains at nearly 37 weeks

Ok so I'm 36+5 with DC2 and I've been having period pains since around 11 this morning - seem to be every 20 mins or so. Worse when I'm standing up.

I didn't labour with DC1 as I had a section (breech) so I've no idea if this is anything to be concerned about or just late pregnancy niggles.

The baby has a blood disorder so I'm booked in for another section at 39 weeks hence my slight concern.

I didn't have or can't remember Braxton hicks with my son so don't know what they feel like.

The period pains aren't really painful more like a dull ache but my legs feel odd when they happen and I don't feel amazing well today.

Do they sound like Braxton hicks?

Baby is head down and very low according to last midwife appt and has been headbutting my fanjo churning up against my cervix the last few days so I've been quite uncomfortable.

Baby is moving round quite a lot and it's making feel a bit sick.

Does or can early labour start with pains like this. I have nothing in my back and no plug loss or anything yet.

Am I just being a hormonal bag of nerves? Please say yes Grin

I think it sounds like you could be in early labour, I'd call the hospital so you can go in to get checked out in case it is.

Good luck OP Flowers

Yep- that was the first sign of labour for me. Phone triage. I think this is it! Good luck OP.

DD is 2.5 so my memories are getting a bit hazy now, but had lots of Braxton Hicks and I don't think what you're describing really sounds like them.

However, I did have period type pain before I started labour. It was on/off for a few days before I properly started labour, but yes, that was how it started for me.

Lots of pp's have advised you to phone your triage/labour suite. Please get a check up - it might be nothing and you'll soon be home again, but better to ask.

Thanks ladies, pains got worse so I rang and they told me to come in. Currently on the monitor but things looking fairly normal midwife says.

Might be uti as I'm feeling pretty unwell...

I'm also 36+5 and have been having these periody aches for a few days. doesn't seem to be anything.

mentioned it to the midwife when I saw her at a routine appointment and she just hummed that yes, baby is very low and engaged so probably just a bit stretchy.

this is my second and I'm just as clueless as with the first.

On the way home now with instructions to go back if it gets erode again - the pains ended up being really sharp - making me wince but they seem to have stopped now.

They did an internal to check if my cervix has changed but they said definitively not in labour thank goodness.

Feel much better for getting checked out though.

They told me that.... same day in pg.... about 7 hrs before DS was born.

Just saying Wink.

Hope the next few days go well for you OP, you could of course have 5 weeks to go !

My labour until pushing felt just like bad period pain. I got to 6cm at home without really too much pain. 4.5 hours later DC was born. Just keep an eye on it.
