Hi all, this is my second pg and I don't remember feeling this naseous last time. I've not actually been sick but everything just turns my stomach and I just want to curl up and die! I've tried eating plain food, sipping water, sea bands... I know I shouldn't complain as its a normal thing but I just feel like I'll never ever want to eat again! Wondering whether to go and see doc but then again I don't really want to go on meds if I it'll go in 3 weeks! Any advice? Thanks x

It may well go soon. The placenta takes over at around 9-11 weeks so you might start to feel better. No guarentees though! flowers

I agree sparks. Hope it passes soon for both of us! Did you have a boy or a girl last time? I had a boy.

melonribena Sat 20-Feb-16 21:50:17

Glad to hear it Amy's! When did it go?

sparksthefirst Sat 20-Feb-16 21:54:33

Yup had a boy last time too melon...I am wondering if this might be a girl...or twins!!!!

melonribena Sat 20-Feb-16 22:03:43

I've got a twin feeling too!!!!

eastpregnant Sat 20-Feb-16 22:37:44

I felt awful at that stage too. It did start to get better by 12 weeks. There are some unfortunate women who have sickness the whole way through but I think it's more common for it to stop after the first trimester so don't panic.

I was told by my midwife that you can get meds to stop vomiting but not to stop the feeling of nausea. That was the main reason I didn't bother going to the doctor, as I was feeling sick almost all day but only actually being sick maybe once or twice a day.

Was your first a boy by any chance? All my friends and family seem to have had worse sickness with girls. Probably just coincidence but I'm convinced there's something in it!

eastpregnant Sat 20-Feb-16 22:39:53

Oooops that'll teach me not to read the whole thread before posting! I see you did have a boy last time. My money's on girl this time in that case!

Awrstickthekettleon Sun 21-Feb-16 08:14:39

Me too OP! I did get quite bad sickness with my DD and this preg seems to be following the same path.

I turned 8 weeks yesterday and the sickness seemed to step up a notch-now waking up in the night to vom as well as first thing in the morning confused The only thing that stops me feeling sick during the day is eating carbs, worried I'll be a right porker by 12 weeks!

The sickness eased at 15 weeks with DD, hoping for the same or sooner with this one! As others have said, I'm expecting another DD with al this sickiness but you never know smile

amysmummy12345 Sun 21-Feb-16 08:50:01

Probably round about week 20 I started to see some improvement in the nausea... I have had girls twice and had HG twice 😌

PurplePotatoes Sun 21-Feb-16 08:58:34

I could have written your post too OP, I am 9 weeks today and have felt horrendous for the last 4 weeks from getting up to going to bed.

I definitely wasn't like this in my last pregnancy and I had a girl! I know I'm not having twins thankfully as had an early scan. A few of my friends have said their sickness did get worse with each pregnancy!

Just past 7 weeks, and yes, same. (I was actually on my way here to bitch about this myself.)

No actual sickness, but I feel dizzy and nauseous near constantly, and just generally crap. Can't stand meat, which is fine, as I have significant tendencies towards a veggie diet anyway, but it means I'm not getting as much protein as I'm used to, which is the only reason I ate the damn stuff in the first place. Having trouble working out how I'm going to get through my weightlifting routine today.

Everything SUCKS.

Oh, and bastard water retention. I'm reasonably certain that I haven't eaten anything like the 28,000 extra kcal required to gain 4kg in actual body mass in the last week, but apparently my body is really keen on hanging onto fluids right now. All the extra carbs I've been eating probably aren't helping with that, either.

Moglet85 Sun 21-Feb-16 09:42:22

Another one feeling your pain! Am seven weeks, nausea affecting me all day every day and it even wakes me up on a night at times! Weird dreams, crushing fatigue, off most healthy food... To echo a PP, anti-emetics don't deal with nausea, just the actual sickness.
Rest as much as you can, and whilst nothing actually stops my nausea, having a full tummy (dry slow release carbs) and applying pressure to the plastic bits of the sickness bands take the edge off it a little.
Hope it passes soon!! flowers

Moglet85 Sun 21-Feb-16 09:45:09

13hirteen are you drinking enough or eating lots of foods with added salt? The body usually hangs onto water when it isn't getting enough fluid or the water/salt balance isn't quite right.

melibu1984 Sun 21-Feb-16 10:42:56

I am in my first pregnancy. During my first trimester I felt constantly nauseous, tired and yet starved at the same time. I was in such a bad mood! I started feeling better from about 14 weeks onwards, I am now 23 weeks.

Eating small regular meals really helped with the nausea, and so did sleeping believe it or not! The longer I slept, the less ill I felt. Also, I found fruit made my feel worse, I guess because a lot of fruit is acidic. Try snacking on raw veg and dry biscuits smile

13hirteen Sun 21-Feb-16 11:26:51

@Moglet85 Minimal salt, whole foods, plenty of water. (Although as you mentioned it, I just totted up and realised that cutting out coffee may have reduced my daily fluid consumption from about five to four litres a day. I drank a LOT of coffee.)

However, I've always been prone to water retention, and until very recently was eating a low-carb diet to supplement my training. I've previously found that elevating carb consumption makes me retain water temporarily, so I am working on the assumption that it may be a factor here.

(In other news: lifted weights. Ate some potatoes and tomatoes in yoghurt. Now feeling slightly less crappy.)

melonribena Sun 21-Feb-16 11:36:25

Hi everyone! Sorry to hear everyone is the same but makes me feel better!
Melibu, that's exactly how I feel, starving but nauseous and don't fancy any food. Hopeful for a girl!

whiteychappers Sun 21-Feb-16 13:15:43

Can I ask what everyone is eating (well attemptng to eat). All I've managed today is a piece of toast and a glass of lucozade. The not wanting to eat is doing my head in as I know I'm hungry but everything seems to want to come back up. I'm running out of ideas to try, (if its come up, it puts me off eating again)

Earlyday Sun 21-Feb-16 13:55:39

My appetite is gone very strange

Food seems tasteless. I want to eat but nothing seems like the right thing. I want to eat junk though of course.

Normally first thing in the morning I have coffee but I've had none today - and haven't even thought about it.

I only felt briefly sick earlier on today. Almost throwing up without actually throwing up.

whiteychappers Sun 21-Feb-16 14:03:17

I have just tried a packet of Skips and boy did they taste good. I'm not that fussed about eating junk as I've lost 5kg from being sick so clearly eating junk won't make me overweight. I think I just need to be braver with food. I'm unfortunately puking every morning as soon I wake up, don't get chance to eat anything its that quick. I do have to keep reminding myself its morning sickness or I drive myself mad thinking what is wrong with me. I thought I would be able to eat better than I am doing and thought I'd be putting on weight not losing so much. My BMI is now just 25 so baby has probably done me a favour as I was overweight. But hard to tell myself that when my heads down the loo all the time lol. If one more person tells me to have ginger biscuits, I bloody hate them anyway!

sparksthefirst Sun 21-Feb-16 19:14:32

Most def not just me then! Fingers crossed it passes v v soon xx

Moglet85 Sun 21-Feb-16 19:34:02

whiteychappers am managing quite dry food- toast and marmite, pot noodle (drained), pasta with a tiny bit of sauce. Oh, and apples! They seem to help a bit. Just have a bit of what you want when you want it before you change your mind about eating it and hopefully something will stay down. Can you manage milk? Maybe make a milkshake with something like nesquik powder for vitamins in?
Mornings are definitely the worst aren't they, probably doesn't help that blood sugar is really low when you wake up as well.
