I have barely slept in about a week. I'm struggling to get to sleep and then waking up somewhere between 2 and 4 and then I'm done.

My DP has been great about it and was telling me to just sleep as and when at the mo, we're both currently having a week off. I was in tears and am just so frustrated. I'm pale as a ghost and feel like a zombie. I hate sleeping in the day as it makes me feel terrible afterwards, like I'm hungover.

At the moment he's fast asleep on the sofa and I'm resisting the urge to poke his eyes out with a spoon... I wouldn't sleep even if I tried to right now.

I've gone from total exhaustion and sleeping all the time to this. I am dreading going back to work as I just will not be able to function on the sleep I am lacking at the moment. It'll absolutely destroy me.

I'm 13 + 4 at the mo. Please tell me this stops as I already feel like a zombie! And I bloody look like one!

Hey fruityb, you started the 'erm newbie' thread didn't you? I was on it and a group of us are still in touch on a Facebook page! Glad to hear you're pregnant!

Anyway, to answer your question, sorry but I had insomnia from the night before I found out I was pregnant until after my DS was born. I really feel for you, it was horrendous. I hope yours is short lived as it can be for some people. Or at least comes and goes in waves so you can get some rest. I got signed off work for a few weeks in the first trimester because I was really struggling. I also did a lot of work from home towards the end. Would something like that be an option for you? I found not having to get ready for work a bit of a relief after a really bad night at least.

Lol yes I did start that one! Quite a while ago wasn't it! Quite impressed my first thread went mental :)

It might be something I consider, I'd even think about getting signed off in all honesty. I'm a teacher and quite often I stress about what needs to be done when I'm not there and such. However this time I need to be more important. I don't know about working from home but I would consider getting a reduced timetable or something if this carries on. I just cannot teach if I'm not feeling spot on, it'd just make me ill.

I am seriously hoping that after a hot bath and a snuggle with my DP in front of a movie I manage to sleep through tonight. It's giving me a headache and up until now I've been feeling better than I expected to when pregnant. I'm loving it other than the drained energy levels!

Yeah ages ago, my son is the youngest and he's 13 months now!! So maybe about 2 years ago since you started it! Yeah honestly, you've given me some really good support over the last few years by starting that thread, so thanks :)

It can be really hard to function when you're not sleeping and pregnant. I did some casual training sessions when I was pregnant and I just couldn't make my brain work properly when I was stood in front of the kids so I feel for you! Some people have talked about hot milky drinks or relaxation CDs to try and help them so might be worth a shot if it carries on.

Glad you're enjoying it otherwise. You're lucky you've felt well in the first trimester too! When are you due? Take it you've had your scan now?

Had scan and that was exciting. Due mid august.

The insomnia is the worst so far. The other thing is the insatiable hunger but for some reason I don't mind that so much :)

I also have those two symptoms. The insomnia is really bad and I'm usually awake between 3-5am. And I'm not just restless I'm wide awake. I just feel sluggish the entire day. Also the hunger is really intense. I haven't had any morning sickness though? Have you?

Ohhhhh, this is the thread for me!!!!

Past two nights - ping awake at 3-5am, I'm 11+5 with my first. It's leaves you feeling like shit for the rest of the day.

Sorry you are going through it too!

Had no morning sickness at all. I could only eat bland food for a couple of days but other than that I've been fine. It's just either the overwhelming exhaustion and sleep or this that is doing me in.

I feel awful, almost hungover. It just needs to piss off now. If it happens again tonight I am just going to stay in bed tomorrow! I can't handle anymore of this.

Me too. I'm 28+4, I had 'morning' sickness every night in first trimester, it was better at beginning of 2nd and now I wake up because I'm uncomfortable and cannot for the life of me get back to sleep.... Even though I'm bloody shattered!!!

Awake at 3 am. Spent a lot of last night staring at the back of my eyelids but refused to open my eyes!
