Am I being crazy?

I'm 10 dpo and only just realized my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex right around the time of ovulation. I'm not on the pill and usually we are careful to avoid that time but we have been havin a really rough time of late and I guess I just lost track. A couple of days later we broke up.

I am expecting my period on Sunday but I just have this niggling feeling. I have slight cramps since yesterday, spots on my chin, chest and collarbone, which I never get, and a fair bit of watery cm. Also, I know it sounds really odd, but I just feel a bit different.

I took a test this morning and it was negative so I imagine that's the end of it, but none of the symptoms are normal for me pre-AF.

Did any of you ladies have anything similar prior to a positive PG test? I would only be a day or two post implantation by now. Help!

PMT symptoms are similar to early pregnancy symptoms. Nobody can possibly say over a message board if you're pregnant, only taking a test can do that. Taking a test this soon will more than likely give you a negatives even if you are pregnant. You need to wait until missed AF or at least a couple of days before AF is due for the pregnancy hormones to be detectable by a home pregnancy test.

Thanks! Yeah sorry I'm not expecting anyone to be clairvoyant here, more just looking for reassurance that these could just be PMT symptoms. As much as I desperately wanted a baby in the last 5 years with my bf, finding out I'm pregnant 2 weeks after breaking up with him is prob not what I need!!

All you can do is wait for AF unfortunately, false negatives are common this early and it happened to me before. Hope you get the result you want Flowers

My hank you so much for responding, I really appreciate it.

Any chance you could take a look at this and tell me I definitely don't see the faintest of faint positive lines here?? This was from this morning and I can't interpret it myself- don't know whether my eyes:brain are playing tricks on me.

That does look like a line to me. I tested positive 8 dpo with DC2.

That is positive. I hope you work it out Flowers

Thanks weebarra. Yeah, I thought so too- though I still have very faint cramps like my period is on its way so who knows?

I don't know what a DC2 is but congratulations! X

Oh man. Thanks confusedandemployed. you seem sure!

Perhaps it won't be long before I have to get myself over to the single mothers thread.

And to think- I have an appointment at the obgyn today to have some checks because they were concerned I'm not ovulating.

I don't know what Clear Blue are supposed to look like, but there is a horizontal line in the first window and a vertical line in the second, IMO.

DC2 - darling/dearest child #2.
Yes, cramps etc very common when you're first pregnant. You mention ob-gyn so assuming you're not in the uk?

Aaah that makes sense.

No, I'm in Germany. Far away from all my family and friends, newly single and possibly pregnant. Things...could be better!

Ftmsoon-

The first window shows a plus sign of it's positive, a minus (the horizontal line you see) if it's negative. Thanks for your weigh-in!

Clearblue don't seem to be as sensitive as First Response (pink ones)...perhaps try one of those?

It does look like a faint line to me....

There's always a possibility that you can get a positive before AF but it doesn't 'stick'....a high percentage of early positives turn out to be chemical pregnancies.

I'm not sure about the faint line. I'd say don' panic and test again in a day or so.

Also even if it is positive you do know you don't have to have the baby, right?

Oh you know I'm going to be obsessively testing every day until I get a clear answer either way! Are the digital ones more reliable?

Thanks for your kind words- I know I wouldn't technically have to have the baby, but I fell pregnant a couple of years back and bf was adamant that we shouldn't go through with it and he didn't want a child. I didn't feel I could have a child which was unwanted by its father so I had an abortion, which I have bitterly, bitterly regretted every day since. I couldn't go through it again.

That's definitely positive. I can see the cross in the first window without having to enlarge the photo. Definitely get some internet cheapies in - go for sensitive ones, 10miu/ml and you'll definitely get a more clear result.
Tentative congratulations, OP? I too had to have a termination in the past (due to unavoidable circumstances) and it was a cause of great sadness for me, so sending you lots of good vibes xx

Yep that's positive. Any chance of going home to family now before it gets tricky?

Report
Runner05 · 18/02/2016 08:53

That looks positive to me. Next time get a pink ink test (preferably first response as they are the most reliable) don't go for a digital as they are by far the least sensitive and with a line that faint it may give a false negative.

A positive result at 12dpo is as reliable as waiting for AF. The only reason tests tell you to wait for AF is that most women don't know when they ovulated so it's an easy milestone to quite.

Thank you so much everyone.

I don't think first response are available here- though I could order some online or see if there are other pink ones available.

Mykingdomforbrie - the thought crossed my mind, but I have a really good job here which I couldn't transfer back home. Also my ex is here and if I were pregnant I wouldn't want to just leave with the baby. Not to mention healthcare, maternity and everything is really, really good here!

But, I'm getting ahead of myself. I may be reading it wrong. It may be chemical. I'm just panicking!

I was convinced AF was on her way back in November because of said cramps.... now nearly 16 weeks pregnant. It looks like a positive to me. Sending positive vibes your way OPFlowers

Ah, congrats mslg :). Best of luck for the rest of your pregnancy.

I have decided to stop staring obsessively at that picture and try to put it out of my mind. Have my obgym appointment later so will pick up a couple ore tests on the way home, and try to forget about it until tomorrow morning!

That looks pretty similar to my positive on a clear blue, and my little one is now eight months. I bet if you do one in a few days you'll have a stronger line

Hannahs83 · 18/02/2016 18:02

Right. I'm not being crazy. Just did another test (clear blue again as I had a 2-pack). And it looks like this. So unless it's "chemical"- possible as I'm still 3 days from period due- it seems I have some decisions to make.

I couldn't hold off doing another one as have been super nauseous all afternoon and couldn't decide whether it was just anxiety or not!
