2nd baby, 5 year gap; Can I reuse bottles?

Have been through the loft today, we've kept all the clothing that wasn't stained, cold water steriliser, bottle bags etc, as you would expect.

But the bottles, what to do? I have loads of them. Some in better shape than others. I'll replace the teats obviously, would I be ok to give a super scrubbing and sterilise to the ones that are in good shape?

I know SIL has bought me a starter pack of the same ones but there's only 3 in there. I BF for 3 months last time anyway so I wouldn't be using them on a tiny baby.

I would get rid of the bottles but use the sterliser.

My instinct says that too but some are unopened and still in packaging. Does the plastic degrade? I might just get new ones in case.

I am using bottles I bought 4 years ago for my son.
New teats but the bottles seem fine. Some of the marks on the side have rubbed off but we use the perfect prep machine so don't need them.
Never considered not reusing them. Kx

Why on earth wouldn't you reuse them?

Reuse them, they'll be fine after a good wash and sterilize.

I have a seven year gap between my two - I replaced the teats and kept the bottles Two years later they're still being used!

We've chosen to buy new bottles but have kept the old steriliser. Our old bottles looked quite manky though and given we haven't bought much new stuff for this baby at all, we thought new bottles were in order.

(Madcap explanation) I just wondered if the plastic degraded over the years and maybe lost some of its sheen - meaning it harboured germs. Like when you have a cut in a chopping board.

I reckon with the good old ones and SILs ones we'll have enough anyway. Hoping to BF a bit longer this time but will see how it goes!

I planned to reuse (bought new teats) but dc2 didn't like them so had to buy new set of a different kind.
Would have been annoyed to shell out for second set only to have to ditch and shell out for a third!!

Btw the ones we're now using are mam self-sterilising ones which are great as no need for separate steriliser.

I have an 18month old and not pregnant again but just wondering if I would be able to reuse the tommee tippee bottles obviously change the teats for when I'm planning a 2nd child.
