4.5 wks pregnant after 2mc's, worried about symptoms.

Hello everyone - I'm 4.5 weeks pregnant after having 2 mc's last year. We are over the moon but also quite anxious and know it can all change in an instant. I'm trying to allow myself a little excitement and to enjoy it. It's such early days though and I'm already finding myself watching out for every slightest twinge or niggle.

I have noticed today I have had an increase in cervical mucus, it's not smelly but it is an opaque cream colour. I am also getting shooting pains in my tummy. Just a handful throughout the day, but they can be quite sharp and make me pause in my tracks. I had cramping in previous pregnancies but can't remember these pains.

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if it sounds normal? I will go to GP on Monday but was hoping some mumsnetters could ease my worries until then Grin

It's hard to enjoy it or get excited after a mc I had the one before DS am now pregnant again and possibly even more woried than with DS I've been having dreams of mc not scary nightmares just normal dreams where it all happens. I even had a bleed with DS at 6 weeks and when to the hospital accepting he was gone only to be shown a strong heartbeat!

Everything sounds pretty normal your saying try to remember lots of woman have mc and go on to have healthy pregnancies.

Hi Lucinda,
I had a MC last year and can relate to what you are saying. I felt exactly the same as you and was knicker checking every what felt like two minutes!!..I still do now and I am 14 weeks (and everything is going well) I still get twinges but I try not to think about them too much now, I would be lying if I said I dont worry anymore.

Hi lucinda

I'm in a similar position to you, currently 10+1 with pregnancy after 2 X early mc's. I was a total mess at the beginning, I don't think anything anyone says will help ease that. I started spotting for a couple of days which I now presume was from implantation which terrified me as I was sure it was the beginning of the end again. I had an early scan at 6+2 where we saw the heartbeat which was a relief and another scan at 8+2. Just booked a private scan last night at 10w as I became concerned by symptoms disappearing. All seems to be going well with this one and we are thinking about telling people this weekend as I think we now have a 98% chance of success. It's such a difficult time, the only thing that has helped me is having the scans, the reassurance from that has been much needed, I've thrown myself into work and tried to not think about the pregnancy too much. DP hasn't wanted to speak about it too until we the 8w scan which I think helped not dwelling on it too much. So difficult to do and almost impossible. Best of luck this time, I hope all works out for you. Epu will do you an early scan if there are any problems ie. Spotting or very bad cramping. There is a website that tells you the risk day by day which has been of some comfort.
Thanks

Thanks vap I'm sorry for ur losses and really glad things are going well for you this time. We have booked an early scan with EPU but the earliest they offered is 8wks - but that's only 3.5 weeks to wait and Its helping me keep calm. We are considering paying for a private one at 10 wks or so as well.

Currently I don't really have any symptoms which is making me anxious! My nipples feel sensitive but other than that, nothing really. I'll probably regret saying this but morning sickness or something wld reassure me! Although it's very early days and plenty of time for that to develop.

I do have this increase in cervical mucus and it's very creamy (sorry tmi!) and I'm unsure of this is normal. So I may go to GP on mon to double check no infection or something. Shooting pains seem to have stopped, now just getting occasional dull ache. But not the strong cramping I had with previous pregnancies - which is worrying me. I think I'm just going to worry for the next 8 months!!

Thanks for ur replies, really helps to hear stories and have a vent. So much going round my head at the moment!

x

Hi Lucinda, so sorry for your losses. I have had an EP and MMC too and was also incredibly anxious during the first trimester. Increase in discharge is totally normal- it's your body's way of keeping your lady parts free of infection. Also every pregnancy is different. I know it's hard but try to relax and take your mind off it.

Thank you eastend I am swinging between being over the moon to feeling certain it's all going to end any minute now. Every trip to the loo is so nerve wracking. But I'm working on staying positive Smile
