I am really upset/annoyed. I thought I was 6 weeks less than I am so thought I was 12 weeks today (turns out I'm 18!!) had consultation with a midwife today as well for my bloods for tests etc. She took my weight and height and came back with a bmi of 32. She took about 3 mins working it out on a chart and didn't look so sure how to do it as she was relying on a nurse to do it but nurse didn't have a chart. She looked confused that my bmi was this much and she said "it's not fair that's considered your bmi considering your half way through but you will need a diabetic test now"
I am shocked that this is my bmi as my pregnancy a year ago it was 27 and I'm not much bigger than back then! I'm not skinny or thin but I'm not obese! Pre pregnancy my bust is 34g, waist 29 inches and hips 46 (which contribute to most of my weight)
I weighed myself when I got home with two different sets of scales and they both say just under 12 stone. Making my bmi 28. Still overweight but not classed as obese!
I'm 5 ft 5 and 12 stone and half way through my pregnancy. I have my booking appointment tomorrow and do I tell her I think it may be incorrect and want weighing again? I don't know what implications being "obese" has but I don't want to be made to see a diatician or take needless tests when I'm not.
I'm not disrespecting anyone that is obese I'm just a bit annoyed that my calculations are different to theirs. I haven't got any paperwork with what they "think" my weight is on, so I guess I will find out tomorrow then will know if it's my bmi that's wrong or my weight
