How did a 3rd kid change your family dynamics?

I'm expecting no.3 (a boy) in August. By then, my daughter will be 6 and a half, and my son 4 (or just about 4). We've been lucky with the dynamics between my two oldest kids. Their relationship is mostly good and they get along well (except when the word MINE enters the conversation...).

I wonder how they dynamics will change with a third one added to the mix. (Of course, it completely depends on the personality of number 3, but you can wonder).

How did the introduction of a 3rd child change your family dynamics? I'd love to know how other people experienced it.

Watching with interest. DS2 (DC3) due in three weeks! Other 2 will be 5 and 2...

It's worked out well for us. I have three boys and they are reasonably evenly spaced (2 1/4 between eldest and middle, 2 1/2 between middle and youngest) and my middle son really bridges the gap as he plays well with both his brothers and invents games that they all can play together (they are now 6,4 and 2).
I think with your set up, it's great that the new baby is a boy as it will help your DS bonding with the baby despite the bigger age gap - they will still have lots of common interest! Your DD I can imagine will take on more of a 'caring' / real live doll attitude Wink And the baby will just slot in!
Of course other posters might come along with vastly different experiences... I think it is a very individual thing, but generally I don't think having 3 upsets the order of things too much.

I'm wondering this as well, jut over 6weeks left and have a 6yo and 4yo already who can be brilliant together or fight like cat and dog.

Me too. Baby due next month and I have two DC now. The gap between the youngest and this baby is nearly 7.

It's brilliant. Love having three. The noise levels. The chaos. Being outnumbered. All good. It seems so different when one of them is away.

We have 9, 7 and 4. Boy, girl, boy. Works well most of the time. Eldest two tend to play most, with the youngest rapidly catching up. They are very careful with him too.

Congratulations Flowers

It's brilliant! So much so, hoping we might have dc4 one day!!! Seriously though, ours were 5 and 4 and seeing them with their wee brother has just been incredible. They adore him and he adores them! All the best!

I'm also following with interest and relieved to see other posters with similar age gaps to mine - DD will be 7, DS will be 5 and the new one comes along just as they start the new school year.
