We have our scan on Monday and we have held off buying anything until now (how i'm not sure) I'd really like to buy something for baby just to mark the day really (fingers crossed all being well obviously)

So I wondered what was the first thing you bought for baby?

With DD1, we bought a sweet little babygro and blanket when we were on holiday on France when I was 30 weeks. With DD2....can't remember (neglected second child)...

After our 12 week scan we got a purple stripy long sleeve vest from h&m. Nowt amazing or out there but it was the first thing we bought so it's gone in her memory box

I bought a toddle pod as there was an offer on for that day only (reduced to £44 I think) a week before my 20 week scan. Baby not here yet to use but I'm so glad I bought it as it will be great to stick in the car to take to people's houses for bubs to have a snooze when we are out and about

We left our 12 week scan and went straight to the Emirates to buy the little ones Arsenal kit! I was insistent that would be the first purchase and it was!

DD1 it was a Debbie Harry tshirt for 3-6 months old from Topshop when I was about 14 week. Current pregnancy we got a babygro, vest, and leggings from Petit Bateau after 20 week scan.

Sleeping bags. Was at the start of an incredibly daunting visit to a Kiddicare warehouse to look at buggies. I stopped at the entrance all gung Ho declared 'we'll need these and they're on offer' threw them efficiently in the trolley and promptly burst into tears when realising that this pregnancy was going to end in A BABY.

Folic acid then a nuchal scan. Had had two miscarriages. Bought the cot, pram, changing table, linens, babygros, etc, etc, at 35 weeks. Good job too, he came ten days later. Had to send DH out for a bath and other bits when we got home Grin. Oh he's 21 - I think it was less intend then!

A sleeping bag on sale at John Lewis when I was around 7 months. Then the following week bought everything else we thought we needed as consultant told us she thought we ought to get ready for an early baby. We were so naive. Bought everything in newborn size. as if a baby born 2 months early would need clothes that size! As it happens he was born at 39 weeks, but did need tiny baby sized clothes. I've had 2 more babies since, bought nothing for any of them before they arrived, and they all wore those original purchases, as has my nephew.

Dd1 - wool and a knitting pattern. I gave these to my terminally ill Gran in the hospice. She knitted a little yellow hat. She never got to meet my children but both wore the hat when first born.
Dd2 - a white blanket. Dd1's blankets were all well used and baubly. Most of dd2's clothes are hand me downs but I wanted her to have a cosy new blanket of her own.
DS was born sleeping very prematurely so we hadn't bought anything before his birth. Dh bought him a blue rabbit in the hospital shop that was buried with him.

A teddy bear just after my 20 week scan. I held off on everything else until around 30 weeks so it felt very decadent at the time!

we found out I was pregnant when on holiday in Japan which felt very odd - so despite it being far too early I bought a small stuffed deer on the island of miyajima (famed for tame deer).

I figured if anything went wrong it was a just a souvenir but I wanted something for bubs to mark the starngeness of doing a japanese pregnancy test!

After that waited till 20 weeks and bought a snowsuit and a footie kit. WE don't know the sex - but thats unimportant when it comes to footie Smile

A knitted cardigan with a lions mane round the hood and a tail. I really wanted to buy some beautiful cotton clothes from the hippy market in Ibiza on my honeymoon but they were girly, & whilst I thought baby would be a girl, we didn't know for sure - she was and I regret not buying it now!

A little hat, which I bought when I found out I was pregnant. DH was away and so I gave it to him when he got home to tell him that I was pregnant.

A second hand pram at about 22 weeks as friend of friends were selling and the price was to good to pass on. I then got a cuddly crocodile at about 28 weeks. We have slightly offbeat cuddly toy tastes though - a hedgehog and bat were bought for the last two new arrivals in the family.
