How much notice for 12 week scan

I'm 10+4 with dc2. I've not had my appointment through yet for my 12 week scan, I spoke to the midwife last week who assured me that I am in the system and I will get my appointment soon, but it seems like very short notice given that I might have to sort out time off from work.
I don't remember waiting this long with dc1 but maybe I did?
How much notice have other people had?

I got the date shortly after my booking in appointment, which was at 10+4 or 10+5 IIRC.
The midwife got me in the system there and then, and I got the letter through a couple of days later.
So I would have got the letter through at 11 weeks, and the scan was at 13 weeks.

I was 10 +5 and scan at 12 +2. I feel the same as you but I bet yours will come any day now

Thanks, I think it feels worse because I actually had a really early booking in appointment. I knew i was pregnant before my period was late, and it was coming up to Christmas and then we were going away, so I got booked in at 5 weeks. It seems ages ago now!!

Round here they won't do booking appointments til 10 weeks now (it's changed since I had my DS three years ago) so it does feel like things are moving more quickly from there on.
Can understand why it seems like a huge wait, when you got booked in so early!

I had to call.the hospital for mine so maybe it's done differently in different areas, but could you maybe try calling the hospital direct anyway as it may be a case you are just waiting for the post to catch up and they already have an appointment for you?

I phoned the midwives to self refer when I was 7 weeks, couldn't get booking in appt until 11 weeks.

They told me to chase hospital for scan appt if it hadn't come through by 12 weeks. Appt arrived in post 12+1 for when I was 13+1

My scan is in late February, and I've had six weeks notice. I did get a very early booking in appointment though which I think got the ball rolling more quickly.

It seems to vary. I self referred to the midwife service as soon as I found out I was pregnant (so was about 3-4 weeks!) and I was given a booking appointment and a 12 week scan appointment then, so I knew when it was going to be well in advance. In a lot of places though it seems like nothing happens about a scan appointment until after the booking appointment.

On the other hand, I now have to go for weekly scans at the hospital to monitor my cervical length: even though I've been told that I will have to go every week for about another 10 weeks, they won't give me the appointments more than one week at a time. I know they are going to be on Thursdays, but not what time, and I've been told I will be informed by letter every week! I still don't know what time my appointment is for this week. It makes things awkward for work and could not be any more inefficient!

At mine you aren't even on the system until you're booked in so they physically can't request a scan for you until that appointment.

A dating scan is from 10-14 weeks anyway so you still have some time.

If it doesn't suit you workwise you can always ring and change it. I did and got my day off of the same week so I didn't have to answer any questions at work.
