Just curious!! DD was quite little at 6lbs 3oz born at 40+4 and after a very smooth labour, it all went pear shaped at the end for various reasons! I know there's no exact science to this but I've got a gut feeling this baby is going to be much bigger and the thought terrifies me, I'm quite petrified about what this labour will be like anyway!

I know they say 2nd babies are normally bigger! Was this true in your case ladies?x

Not true for us, ds1 7lb 12oz, dd 5lb 12oz and ds2 7lb 8oz

Dd was born at 36+5 but I don't think she would have outgrown ds anyway who was born at 38+6

DS2 was 12 pounds smaller (born 4 days early as opposed to 10 days late). He's now slightly the bigger build of the two although both are quite small children.

DC2 was a bit bigger. 8lb2oz versus DC1's 7lb9oz.

My second was 2lbs heavier than my first. But the labour was 3 hours shorter, and a great deal more pleasant than the first. Bigger babies don't necessarily make for a difficult labour!

Dc1 9lb 4oz
Dc2 8lb 4oz
Dc3 7lb 10oz
Weight has little impact on length of labour or level of pain

I'm interested in this. Ds1 was 10lb 6 so I'm intrigued

Mine were all born around the 38 week mark give or take a day or two.

Ds - 5lb 9oz
Dd1 - 5lb 15oz
Dd2 - 6lb 12oz
Dd3 - 6lb 7oz

Two different midwives told me that Ds felt like a big baby. Couldn't have been more wrong!

DS nearly 9lb. 6 days over
DD 8 1/2 4 days early.
I always thought the extra weight helped! Gravity!!
But DD was MUCH quicker!!

DD1 7 12½
DD2 9 1

I had pre-eclampsia with DD1 so I wonder if she'd have been bigger otherwise. DD2 was 2 weeks late and predicted to be about 7lbs Shock

Both exactly same weigh to the gram.
Or Oz
7lb 10 1/2 oz

Not at all. Exactly the same weight to about 10 grams. Dc3 was 6oz heavier. All term. Dc1 actually planned ds so presumably if I had left it a few days and waited for spontaneous labour, she would have been heavier.

The heaviest was the easiest labour, for me, although she was brain damaged, so the least 'successful' or easy in real terms. The easiest was the section lol.

DS1 7lb 12oz at 40+3
DD 7lb 10.5oz at 40+1
DS2 10lb 10.5oz at 40+10

DS1 most difficult labour and birth.
DS2 easiest by far!

DS2 was smaller, he was a week early though.

DS1 7lbs 14oz
DS2 7lbs 11oz

DramaAlpaca · 24/01/2016 22:39

DS1 was 6lbs 11oz at 39+2, and DS2 was 8lb exactly at 40+5. DS3 was bigger again, 8lbs 6oz at 39+2.

DS2's birth was much easier & quicker than DS1's, even though he was a lot bigger.

DS, 1 day early, 8lb 9ozs
DD, 11 days late, 8lb

So, 12 extra days inside and 8ozs less.

DCs 2&3 were both smaller than DC1 - DC1 was a 1.5 weeks early, 2 was bang on the due date and DC3 was 1.5 weeks late.

My friend had s 1lb 3izs baby and a 8lb baby, she said smaller baby was more painful as the muscles had very little to push against, whereas bigger baby was easier as she had something to push on. Both babies are taller than her now, lol!
