Not the most exciting post.
We need to buy a maxi cosi car seat and isofix base. Where's the best place to go please? Thank you! X

We got ours from John Lewis, as the prices were all similar, but I like their customer service, and felt if there was a problem is be taken seriously!

Hi OP, is there anything in particular that you like about maxi cosi?
I had one that was faulty, so I looked up Cybex and went to our local independant baby shop to look at them.
Our Cybex has been great, one of the safest on the market.

Got ours at Toys R us as they had Toys cheapest offer on a pink cabriofix. Not sure if that offer is still going though.

Got both from Amazon. The seat was a flash sale and the base I used the £10 voucher last week.

We got our first from JL. We've recently upgraded to the Axissfix and got it from Mothercare via topcashback or whatever it is, as they give you money back for certain shops.
Btw, if you're considering getting a family fix base (which is used for pebble and pearl) just consider whether you're actually likely to buy them both. We got the family fix base thinking we'd then get to Pearl but we've just gone straight to Axissfix which doesn't need a base as it has its own isofix points.
Just look and see if the basic base is cheaper, if you're going to go with Maxi cosi...

Got mine from kiddie kingdom, red one was £20 cheaper than all the others for some reason!

John Lewis here too and they'll price match if you find it cheaper elsewhere.

I'm about to buy one from Halfords, if you google online you can find a voucher for 20% off all car seats there for the next few days (haven't used it yet but it looks legit). Brings the cost down to just under £100, can't see it cheaper anywhere else right now.

We got our Cabriofix from Amazon for £99.

Got a maxi cosi from mothercare. They had an offer on where you got a free base when you bought both pebble and Perl at the same time. When are you due? As you could potentially wait for a bit and look out for any deals.
I would keep an eye on: John Lewis, Mother Care, babies are us and any independent baby stores you have near you? That's what I did

I'd personally go to boots after joining their mother and baby club (10 points per £1) and search for discount vouchers - there's currently one MVC35 for 10% off.

Check you're happy with the pearl as lots of people tend to then decide they want to keep their baby rear facing for longer and end up buying an ERF seat instead.

If I were starting all over again i would choose the recaro zero 1 elite. It goes all the way to four years and has a removable infant seat that clips onto a travel system. Or maybe a Joie everystage. Both have the safety of extended rear facing and very versatile to last many years.

We got a Pebble and Familyfix base from amazon in 2014, with the plan to move DD to the Pearl when she was big enough. Since then they've brought out the 2way Pearl (which annoyingly needs a 2way base) which can rear-face with bigger children.

So we've just bought the 2way Pearl and base (from kiddicare, as John Lewis fucked us about with trying the seats in our car) for DD. She has had 18 months use out of the Pebble, though, and we're going to use it again for DC2 (due in March), so it'll have done it's time!

When DC2 needs to move up a seat we will probably get a Pearl for DD, so she can start forward facing at the same time as DC2 moves into her 2way Pearl, and then DC2 can have that one facing forward facing in due course.

That's the plan, anyway! I think the 2way base, Pebble Plus and 2way Pearl should be a good bet for the future, they'll meet i-size regulations too so ERF will be fine. Definitely try the seats in your car, though - they'll probably fit fine, but you'll want to make sure driver/front passenger has enough leg room.

I think MaxiCosi are a good bet, anyway, there must be a reason why they're the most popular car seat manufacturer in Europe.

I think they are the most popular because they are cheap, they are not the safest though, which is a shame.

But are they cheaper because they can manufacture on a larger scale?
