Pregnancy notes

Merry Christmas Eve eve fgrin

Just wondering when people started carrying their notes? Some of my friends only ever took them to appointments (which is all I have ever done) but others have carried them since 12 week scan...

goodbyeyellowbrickroad Wed 23-Dec-15 13:26:26

I'm 31 weeks and only take them with me to appointments. With my last pregnancy I carried them around with me from 36 weeks and I'll probably do the same this time.

I was thinking 36 weeks sounded like the right time. If I need to rush to get anywhere I'm sure I can get someone to pick them up from my house

LillyBugg Wed 23-Dec-15 13:28:05

I think I shoved them in the car around 25 weeks. Made sure they were relatively near from about 35 weeks. Turned out I needed them to.

Noodledoodledoo Wed 23-Dec-15 14:07:02

Mine tended to live in the car as most of the time where I am the car is not far from me!

goodnightdarthvader1 Wed 23-Dec-15 14:17:44

I had this conversation with DH yesterday. I'm 32+4, and my DH and I drove to the supermarket. I asked him if I should take my notes grin (we didn't)

Usually I do leave them in the car, but mostly because I forget to take them to the midwife if I don't. blush

Whoknewitcouldbeso Wed 23-Dec-15 14:20:28

I take them on long trips now and I'm 33 weeks.

Newlywed123 Wed 23-Dec-15 15:14:38

I'm 33 weeks, and high risk. I still don't carry my notes! They don't fit in my current changing bag so leave them at home, will start carrying them around when my stitch is taken out at 37 weeks fsmile

VagueIdeas Wed 23-Dec-15 15:16:36

I never carried them with me. I was pretty much housebound with SPD so didn't venture out too much (other than picking up DC1 from preschool around the corner) but it never occurred to me to have them with me constantly.

Iammad Wed 23-Dec-15 15:39:03

I'm 36 weeks and tbh I don't go any where far enough to carry them with me.
Haven't the energy lol.
But yep if I was staying out, or going anywhere not walking distance to my house then from 36 weeks I would take them.
Obviously if going a far distance then I would take your held hold notes from any stage of pregnancy.

Oysterbabe Wed 23-Dec-15 19:37:47

I'm not going to carry mine anywhere but long journeys. We live less than 2 miles from the hospital so DH can bring them if need be.

RVPisnomore Wed 23-Dec-15 19:39:20

I never too mine anywhere other than midwife appointments. I was like this until I went in for my planned CS, kept forgetting!

CarrotPuff Wed 23-Dec-15 20:02:15

I worked same place as DP with my first so he carried them for me in his rucksack fwink Never needed them though other than for appointments.

This time I have to carry them myself, so I don't as they don't fit into my bag. I would if going away somewhere though.

TriJo Wed 23-Dec-15 22:36:14

I'm 27 weeks and back in Ireland for Christmas - brought mine. Wouldn't have carried them around before that though.

Dixiechick17 Thu 24-Dec-15 03:19:04

I took them everywhere from 15 weeks. Two unexpected trips to the hospital early on due to problems. Another at 24 weeks, was at work and had to go straight to the maternity unit, so for me it was good that I kept them on me smile

frikadela01 Thu 24-Dec-15 04:07:46

I don't have notes. Everything is electronic, I just have a little book that has my appointment dates in it. Although apparently I can request a copy of my notes.

originalusernamefail Thu 24-Dec-15 04:10:52

37+6 with DC2 and I don't carry them out and about. Saying that though I haven't packed a bag, built the crib or ordered a new mattress for it so maybe I'm not the best example of preparedness blush. Tbf I didn't do any of that stuff for DC1 until I went into labour at 40+3 and had plenty of time as he didn't show his face until 40+6 ( I do only live 5 mins from hospital though and have family who could fetch if needed).

LumpySpaceCow Thu 24-Dec-15 04:12:42

On 3Rd pregnancy and didn't realise people did this apart from long journeys. I just take mine to appointments.

hufflebottom Thu 24-Dec-15 05:26:08

After carry mine around religiously with dd 1 this time They pretty much live at home except for when I go to work (just in case something happens there) or if I go away.

So they are currently in my bag as I'm at my parents house for the next two weeks.

hufflebottom Thu 24-Dec-15 05:27:36

Oh and appointments.

hebs72 Thu 24-Dec-15 05:35:51

I carry mine with me all the time - it was a good excuse for a new bag grin

Seriously though, if something happens (god forbid) then you'd need them with you, if only for blood type and rhesus neg status . As my midwife said, if you're shopping and your notes are in the car, no-one's going back for them. We went to New York at around 13 weeks, and my DH even lugged them round with us every day

I should mention that I have two sets of notes as I've changed hospitals, and they couldn't possibly have the same format......

honeysucklejasmine Thu 24-Dec-15 05:49:23

I am 31 weeks and will take mine with me when I go away for Christmas. I do tend to leave them in the car anyway though.

glueandstick Thu 24-Dec-15 06:04:39

I keep a photo on my phone with the blood results on. The notes stay at home even when I went on holiday. They don't say anything useful and half the stuff written in them is incorrect.

Paperblank Thu 24-Dec-15 08:47:17

Have taken mine everywhere with me since day 1 because the midwife told me to! I did as I was told (for once...)

Lovelilies2 Thu 24-Dec-15 08:51:24

I won't even get mine until 16 week appointment. And then I'll leave them at home except if going on a long journey. This is dc3 smile
