iCandy peach blossom or Apple2Pear?

Please help. I have a 21 month-old and am due to give birth to my second. My baby has not been walking long and so I need a double stroller including a carrycot for the newborn. I am buying from eBay but have limited funds for the much-coveted-by-me iCandy Peach Blossom (I'm struggling to find one for less than £500 when a carrycot is included).

My question is this: Is it really true that it's tantamount to child abuse to simply lay a newborn flat in one of the normal stroller seats? (A lady at baby group today showed me hers and she has never put her 3 month-old in the carrycot; he looked perfectly happy and safe in the lower seat laid flat.) She is willing to give me (for free!) her unused carrycot if I choose to buy the same model as her pram: an iCandy apple2pear.

Is this model inferior in any significant way to the iCandy Peach Blossom? If so, I am tempted to go ahead and buy a Blossom but forego the additional expense of a carrycot.

Any advice would be appreciated (and forgive me if I've posted in the wrong topic).

Have you considered getting a buggy board for whatever pram you used with your first child? Would save you an absolute fortune!

As I mentioned in the OP, my baby only recently learned to walk. We don't own a car and go on very long walks (think 5 miles per day) so a buggy board is out of the question. She would get wet through!
