When did you start to show in your first pregnancy?

I've read that women start to show in their first pregnancy around week 12-14. I'm wondering what your experience was. When did you find you were showing and when did people start to notice?

I'm 11 weeks on Monday and have a visible bump. I'm wondering how much of it is wind (not felt particularly windy though!) I'm 5'7 and was 9st at my first midwife appointment. I've always had a bit of podge on my belly though, but now its firm under there.

I can't remember exactly which week but I know it was sometime after my 20 week scan. Having said that I had hyperemesis (as I do now with baby two) and lost a lot of weight.

About week 18 for me (similar height/weight to you).
Was very bloated up to about week 12 though!

Not until 21/22 weeks with my first.

Most places I read said with your first you are likely to show closer to 18-20 weeks. That was certainly the case for me, up until then my "bump" was all bloat, but from around 18 weeks I had a small bump.

I felt I started to 'thicken' at week 10 and someone even asked me that week too. It wasn't a bump as such just a definite thickening of my waist as I had quite a defined waist not a stealth boast, my thighs make up for it Hmm

I wasn't sure if it was simply gas too though. I suffered with early sickness and the only things I could eat were bread and fizzy water both which make me bloated!

By 15 weeks it was obvious if you knew me but my hips spread too so anybody who didn't would just have thought I was tubby! 23 weeks now and it's unavoidable lol xx

Day 1, on my boobs Grin

I'm 19 weeks with my first and starting to notice a little curve to my belly if I really look for it, but still no bump and people say "are you sure you're pregnant" which is really annoying, and also not great to hear with week before the big scary scan. Apparently the next growth spurt is when the weight of the baby pushes it forward and out, and good bye stomach muscles.

I was really bloated until about 14 weeks, so I appeared to be showing but wasn't. I was in normal clothes until at least 17 weeks, some of my smaller clothes stopped fitting a little before that though. I went out in 'normal' clothes at 22 weeks, I felt dreadful all night and next morning I had a proper belly, it was like baby was saying 'nope, you ain't squashing me in to those jeans again!'

About 32 weeks. I remember buying a maternity dress at 30 and the cashier asking if it was for me.

28 weeks I began to look a bit podgy. Had a huge bump at 32 weeks- it just shot out, like a basket ball under my top.

I was 8stone 3 at my 20 week scan. Felt very nauseous for the first trimester.

Used to have abs of steel, now have a mum tum as I had abdominal muscle split and they're very weak now. Sad

About 11 weeks here but with twins, and I'm pretty short (5ft2).

I'd say 16 weeks was proper baby bump, ridiculous bloating in earlier pregnancy resulted in someone congratulating me at about 7 weeks 😳 it was strange to get smaller for a few weeks!!

About week 14-16, that's when I had to abandon my usual clothes and start in maternity wear!

GlasgowPingu · 13/12/2015 13:12

I started to develop a small bump about 22 weeks but it's still not obvious if I'm wearing a slightly baggy top, and at almost 26 weeks I'm still in my normal clothes.

Crazy bloat weeks 7-10 and real bump from about 25 weeks. a selfie at 21wks shows hardly anything even though I'd put on nearly a stone by then.

I'm 22 weeks with DC1 and still just look a little plump. There is a little bump there, but not too obvious. But the bloating can be very deceptive. I looked huge the other day, like a beachball Shock and then woke up the next day and felt quite flat!

I'm 5'10, about 10 stone and have shown by week 8 on first pregnancy, I get really bloated and on me it looks like baby bump. Am now 10 wks preg with twins and look like most people do at 20-25 weeks. I bloody love it!

I was around 12 weeks too, with the bump popping out right under my boobs. That was even after losing a stone around then with awful morning sickness!

Had a little bump around 13 weeks - I'm 26 weeks now and look like I've stuffed a football up my shirt.

Thanks for all the replies! Most of you were a lot later than I thought it'd be :)

I think I must be really bloated. I've got terrible IBS atm so I think that is probably it. I also tend to put weight on my belly before anywhere else so that isn't helping!
