Waters breaking!

On Saturday I returned from shopping and had massive gush that soaked all my clothes and thought my waters had gone. I went to the hospital and on my way had another gush soaked large maternity pad. Then got there and had another, the examined me and said couldn't see any signs of waters breaking. Then they took my pad and said they think it may be urine. After that they asked me to go for a walk for an hour didn't even make it to lift and had another gush. They then said they were going to get the doctor to do examination and a scan, she said she thought she could see reduced fluid on ultrasound. Then they admitted me.

When getting the ward I had a shower and yet another gush and started to have pains every 8 mins lasting about 2 mins, then went to every 5 mins lasting about 2 mins. They went on for about 4 hrs, then after codeine stopped and I feel asleep. Next day went for another ultrasound and I felt like a piece of meat the woman got me lay down did a quick look literally lasting a min and said its all fine, just seemed like she just wanted me out of there so she could get home, didn't even check babies size or anything. Then they sent me home saying basically I kept wetting myself which I do not believe as never happened before and happened five times! Havnt had any since, just concerned that they may have been wrong and now my baby could be at risk or I may get infection! Should I ask for a re scan to make sure? I am differently making a complaint once my baby is born! X

Simple answer yes! You have explained exactly what happened to me and I was left far too long with broken waters. I did get an infection. My baby is fine, now a strapping 4 year old, but he was poorly when born because of my infection. I'm not saying this is going to happen to you or that it is definitely your waters, which have broken, but please get rechecked and demand a second opinion.

When my waters broke it was just like this, nothing at all like wetting myself, go back there and demand second opinion.

They can do a simple swab test that will show whether your waters have gone or not. I'm actually quite disgusted that they haven't! Go back!
Is baby moving ok?

It'll be, I'll bet, your hind waters breaking, so at examination they would appear in tact. My hind waters broke at 37 weeks and I was induced 24 hours later as I hadn't gone into labour and I was at risk of infection. Go back to hospital and good luck!

I am currently waiting for my doctor to ring as I'm hoping he may help and push them. They really belittled me when I was there and now I feel so let down and scared something is seriously wrong x

My waters breaking sounded exactly like this.

I gave birth exactly 24 hours after my waters broke and I got a nasty infection, baby was fine though.

I would push for a second opinion.

Good luck Flowers

OP you might be best to just go back, my love. Understandable that you're not keen after how you were treated, but your doctor might be busy and take ages to get back.

Definitely go back. My waters were leaking out for 3 days before they actually agreed to examine me. They also tried to palm it off with 'it's probably urine'. Turns out it wasn't and when they finally checked there was mec in my waters and at some point in labour i developed an infection in my uterus because I'd been left so long. Not a nice thing to try and recover from, alongside childbirth so please get them to swab you.

Lozza223 - please don't panic, that's not going to do you or your baby any good. It's good that you're pushing to be reviewed and hopefully it's something and nothing. Please keep us updated on how you get on, will be thinking of you.
