Pregnancy

am I lazy or just pregnant?

I'm only 5 weeks pregnant. I have no nausea yet.

My house is messy and my 11 month old is asleep. Why am I not tidying up? Am I lazy or is it possible to feel tired already?

I can say that in the earliest stages of pregnancy I was the most tired I had ever been ... your body is working harder now than ever! Give yourself a break and pace yourself!...your body is already doing a lot of work without excessive chores too!

I agree. The first trimester is by far the hardest. Total, debilitating exhaustion. Look after yourself.

I'm at the opposite end of the first trimester to you - 13+3 - and at the stage where tiredness and other symptoms should be subsiding. Yesterday I was full of energy, today I can't keep my eyes open! I don't think there's a set rule about when tiredness hits - it just comes and goes as it damn well pleases!

I was exhausted from week 6 and would have cereal after work and be in bed or asleep on the couch by 8:00. Housework was not high on my list of priorities! I can't imagine if I had a toddler to take care of!

definitely the pregnancy!! I was horrendous during them first few weeks! im now 15+1 and only just starting to get some energy back to get my house back to normal!

(although I did cry last night purely just because I was tired Blush)

Your 11 month old is napping? Go to sleep!

you lucky bugger that you're not nauseous yet! The tiredness is definitely the pregnancy. I'm 7weeks and DH is now having to do housework when he gets in as I just can't do it all during the day with a 22mo.

Early pregnancy is the worst time for tiredness. It was like walking through treacle every day. Now I'm 19 weeks and feel back to normal!
Take it easy!

I hate a messy house & love cleaning and in the early weeks I had this bizarre couldn't be arsed phase. Don't be hard on yourself & rope in someone to help if you can! Grin

Oh wow thanks all! I don't remember being this tired last time. Hope it passes as I know the last couple of months will be tough!

Don't be hard on yourself. Pregnancy is tough. Your body goes through a million changes. I'm exhausted at 19 weeks and have been since around 5 weeks. On top of it I have hyperemesis and I'm now battling a viral infection too which is probably making the exhaustion worse. Plus I have a two year old. My home is a tip and frankly I don't care! Sod the housework and rest as much as you can.

I also hate a messy house, but I'm 26 weeks and have barely any energy. The energy I do have goes on making sure my three DC are fed and at school/nursery on time!! Hope the crazy nesting phase hurries up so I can get the house spotless :)

You're just pregnant. Exhaustion bordering on narcolepsy was my first pregnancy symptom, well before I got a positive test. It did pass by about 14 weeks (then reappeared at 30 weeks).

Definitely the worst bit for tiredness at the start! Let it get messy! Just rest.
