Views on Yorkshire hospitals - Harrogate, Jimmy's and LGI

Hi lovely Mumsnetters

I've relatively recently moved to Wetherby and expecting DC1 next July. Just wondered if anyone has any thoughts on the local hospitals? I live closest to Harrogate but have been told I would get more scans at one of the Leeds hospitals as we conceived via IVF. So just interested to learn about any experiences people have had, good or bad.

Thanks so much
Bel x

I gave birth at LGI in January. The delivery suite were amazing. I can't rate them highly enough. They were also very good through the pregnancy. I like you had done ivf and we were given extra scans as a result. The only warning I would give you is that the policy in leeds is that you are high risk if you have conceived via ivf. This is good in one sense as you are given extra scans. However, they also recommend that you do not go over your due date if you have done ivf - in other words they recommend induction. A lot of other hospitals do not follow this policy and in my opinion it's questionable. I agreed to be induced and to be honest I regretted it.

I live about 3 miles out of Wetherby, in North Yorkshire. I initially got offered Leeds or Harrogate and I jumped at Harrogate - my reasoning is that no child of mine is going to be born in West Yorkshire. I'm a St. Helens Rugby League fan and most of the teams I hate are in West Yorkshire Grin

But after that snap decision, I compared the hospitals and Harrogate seemed the better of the two for pregnancy. I think it was on NHS Choices - you can pick various hospitals to compare.
