Pregnancy and virus'

Hi,

I'm 8 weeks pregnant with dc2 and generally been feeling ok. Just the expected exhaustion and a bit queasy first thing.

However our DS (2 yrs) has come down with a virus and ear infection. He's on antibiotics now but not improved yet. He's been sick all over the sofa and also got squitty nappies.

I'm off work with him tomorrow and DH is supposed to be going away for work.

I guess if it's a contagious virus I'm already exposed to it but do you think I should take any precautions? Is there a risk to unborn baby being around this sort of virus? I'm starting to feel nauseous so worried I'm coming dos with it!

Would you ask your DH to stay home or do I just need to man up? Worried that if I do get poorly I'm on my own with DS for the next 2 days and 2 nights which could be hellish!

Aww sorry to say but you need to 'man up' although us woman are more robust then men anyway lol.
Just make sure you wash your hands after cleaning up sick/poo and keep up with hygiene around the house.
I am 32 weeks with 5 other children ranging from 15years to 13 months and unfortunately no matter how much precautions you take if your gonna get it you will.
Hope your little is better soon.

I doubt it would hurt baby asking as your immune system can fight it off, I had loads of viruses whilst pregnant, was always around children who were poorly my son was absolutely fine, it may just make you feel a thousand times worse cos your pregnant!
Congratulations Smile

Yeah, had a word with myself and manning up Grin Bad timing with DH going away but shit happens (literally!) We'll manage. DS is one poorly little dude - could be a long couple of days!

Thanks for the straight talking Smile

I've just spent the last week pregnant, poorly with a cold and my toddler DS with hand, foot & mouth off nursery. Sorry to say that it's all part of parenting to have to deal with life and illness - it won't be the first or last time!
