Hello
I'm 31+2 and have a urine infection. Think it's been festering a while and I feel dreadful. Went to the hospital and got checked yesterday because of tightenings and pain. All good with baby it's just me suffering. Question is - how long til I might feel better? Started on antibiotics (cefalexin) yesterday. Struggling to walk or do anything without pain. Could really do with going back to work tomorrow!

Doc also said baby was very very low! I'm having an elective section so definitely don't want an early labour! Does it matter baby is so low?

Any experience much appreciated.
Thanks

Poor you, that sounds awful. I often suffer with urine infections (they are just awful), and usually, the antibiotics take about a day to kick in properly, depending on what they are. Take paracetamol to help with the pain, and most importantly, drink like there is no tomorrow! Water and/or herbal teas, no sugary drinks or fruit juices. Cranberry juice can help, but I found that water and teas are much easier to stomach. Really try to drink as much as possible - I usually end up making myself a whole pot of tea, which I then try to drink as quickly as possible.
However, from experience I find that UTIs really can take it out of you, especially depending on how you get on with the antibiotics. Be prepared that you might not feel up to going to work tomorrow, even if the pain has subsided.
Hope you feel better soon!

I took Cephalexin but at 16 weeks due to uti as well. Took a week to feel back to normal. Drinks loads of water to flush it out - I then got thrush right after which was horrible so make sure you take probiotics of some sort

Thank you!
Feel dreadful. Have a two year old too but thankfully she's in nursery full time.
I've drank 4 pints of water so far today. May have to rearrange things at work I've only got three weeks left before mat leave and so ugh to do.
Thank you for sharing your experiences.
