I've had a cold lingering around for 2 weeks now and finally broke out a week and a half ago with a bad cough. the cough unfortunately turned into a chest infection and was on a course of antibiotics for it. I felt like I was getting better. I woke up yesterday and my cough had come back but not irritating no more but full on Barking. today I have no energy literally stayed on the sofa all day and little one hasn't move as much either. to top it off my lower back has a dull ache and when I went to the toilet for a number 1 (sorry for tmi) it really hurt to sit down and pass water the pain was horrible.

could this cold affect the little one or am I being paranoid?

I'm 32 weeks today

Chest infections and urinary infections r the same bug. U might need another antibiotic? Maybe a longer course?

Report

Same type of bug, no medical expert but same antibiotics used to treat both

it took my docs two weeks to see it was turning into an infection even after I told them I'm prone to water and throat infections. they just told me to drink more fluids -.-

GP sounds useless.

really is. think I'm gonna listen to my DP as he's never steered me wrong before. see if my nan will take me to the docs and go from there.

had next to no sleep and been told by DP I'm stupid if I go into work. I feel bad and feel like I've let my manager down if I don't go in. what shall I do?

Please don't go to work, go to the gp. An untreated urine infection can kick start premature labour - I know because I felt the same as you, then started having regular contractions. Went to MAU and thankfully they were able to sort it out quickly with the right antibiotics and I carried on to full term

Don't go to work.

Has your (admittedly useless) GP checked bp and urine for protein? Actually tested for infections?

Report
tinyme135 · 16/11/2015 07:01

on Wednesday the MW checked it and it was clear but my GP didn't bother with it. at 3 this morning I was going to call 111 and see what they say but I thought I'd have better luck going back to sleep and seeing how I was in the morning.

doctor refused to do a water sample as I'm not having the signs of a uti even though I've got horrible back pain. they said I got to have a week off work then see how I feel at the end of the week if I'm still ill get a sick not but I wont get paid for it -.- how can I go about getting a sick note. can I call the docs and say my work needs a doctors note to prove I'm ill or what?

U self cert (meaning u don't need a sick note) for first 7 days. Many employers don't pay sick pay for first week, I'm lucky mine do. Ud need to check as its pregnancy related and maybe should be exempt. Ur doc should have checked ur urine. Def wouldn't have took his crap answer. Have u a mw yet

RoTo72 · 16/11/2015 13:04

If ur still not happy go.to a&e explain symptoms say ur gp useless and they can do sample.test.

At least mw on the ball your gp sounds shit! Can you see a different one? Frankly I'd be checking if antibiotics gp prescribed ok with mw too (bet she already knows how useless gp is!)
