Hi. New on mn. I'm 43 and 6 weeks pregnant. GP had me at 10 weeks 2 weeks ago (long story, locum not usual gp). Went for scan Monday and no hb found on internal scan. Doc saw two yolk sacs but only one embryo. Have to go back on 23rd. I did worry as my symptoms.were trailing off towards the end of last week, but from yesterday they r back with vengeance. Nauseous tired sore bbs, so I keeping everything crossed for positive scan.

6 weeks at mo. GP would have had me.at 12 weeks at mo. She completely discounted last pd as it was 3 weeks late. Said.it was breakthrough. But she was locum and didn't know history. Iv endometriosis and cycles were never regular. I had wild strong symptoms from v start which made me think I was further along too.

Hello all - hi nikki and roto and lilli - congrats :)

Had amnio today which wasn't as bad as i thought in terms of pain, but was a very weird feeling going in and could feel it right inside. The Dr and nurse there were absolutely lovely, very kind and patient. I do sometimes wonder at the sort of people who end up in jobs requiring extreme compassion, but we were lucky this time :)

Anyway, back to the waiting game - as there is a weekend between, it'll be 5 days minimum. Not holding out much hope, but feeling calm and accepting now about what's ahead.

I just wanted to say thank you to you all for your support - it's incredible really, that you can come and pay your innermost thoughts (ah anonymity is a wonderful thing) and meet nothing but kindness and love from everyone. What an amazing bunch of ladies you are! :)

Xx

Glad to hear from you moon Smile And yes, the joy of anonymity! I'm sharing everything on here! This thread has been incredibly helpful and very reassuring when needed (for me, around every 2 weeks!).

Lots of love xx

Thanks for the new thread Cloud. Have you packed your bag yet? I didn't do mine first time round - my waters broke dead on 40 weeks & I was racing around trying to think what I needed! Like to think I'll be more organised this time but with Christmas just before, I bet I don't do it!
Glad you're ok Moon. For once, I hope the weekend goes quickly.
Welcome & congratulations RoTo.
Someone brought in some Celebrations to work today. I swear I have eaten half my body weight in chocolate! So bad but yum! Now I'm thinking about dinner......

Hi RoTo, congratulations! Two yolk sacs mean diamniotic twins and its not uncommon to have one 'vanishing twin' (i know the way they have termed it!) in early gestations but good news is the remaining embryo continues to grow and flourish well. It may also be that she has a slow start than the one you saw today. So fingers crossed for ur next scan xx

Moon thank you for updating us. Fingers and toes crossed for the results xx

This group is amazing! I'm wont otherwise be able to hold myself through this waiting game ..viability scan and bloods next week..xx

Wow - a new thread! Thanks for setting it up Cloudjumper

Takes me back to 3 years ago when I (a mere whippersnapper at the age of 41) was on the 40+ threads then. Think we had 4 threads in total, then by then we had all migrated to a post-natal thread, then 4 threads after that most of us wandered over to FB where we have been ever since! I still occasionally look back over the old threads as they serve as a kind of journal for my last pregnancy - quite useful now as hard to remember what I was feeling back then.

Welcome and congratulations RoTo72 - I had a similar experience in my early days of pregnancy as was scanned early and not much was found then had to return two weeks later, by which point a baby had appeared! Will keep my fingers crossed for you. By the way, I expect you will find yourself making some exceedingly poor choices regarding food over the next few weeks but it's just part of pregnancy as you know and at some point you will want to eat sensibly again Smile And Grin at the baby with a beard!

Mooncalf so pleased things went as well as expected today and that you had kind people caring for you (so, so bloody important). Here's hoping that you don't have too long to wait and we are all right here supporting you x

Ellie - will keep my fingers crossed for you for your scan and bloods next week - this waiting game is so hard isn't it?

I've calmed down a little bit about my job - have accepted I will probably just have to make the most of my time at home and remortgage to see me through. Citymole I have no rights whatsoever as an employee as I go to great lengths to disassociate myself from employee status. There's a couple of others affected too (men) so not linked to my pregnancy, although the pregnancy will make it very, very hard to get more work as I won't be available beyond Easter. I was approached today by a contact who heard I was looking and I said I wasn't available beyond easter and he said sorry no can do - the industry I'm in can be very small in some ways and so there's only so much embroidery of the truth one can do!

In other news, I've been getting a touch of the early 2nd trimester dooms, you know the 'oh I feel a bit normal again - what was the last 3 months all about then', and 'my tummy is looking a bit flabby but surely that is all'. I think I felt like this last time, but it doesn't reassure me much!

Had a growth scan yesterday, cos of the GD. I'm 28 weeks and baby is 2lb 13oz. Amazing that at 20 wks could see all of him/her on the screen and now he/she is too big to see in one go!

moon Hope you can get some rest now. I realise that the worry is still going to be there, wishing you lots of strength and the best possible outcome!

Welcome roto Sorry you are having a lot to worry about! Hopefully you will get more clarity at your next scan and that it was just too early to be certain.

I'm 33 weeks today and honestly look as if I'm about to give birth. 5 more weeks until my C-section, no idea how big I am going to be by then! Confused
