washing fabric bits of pram - how?

Looking for some practical advice - we've just bought a secondhand pram in excellent condition, the only problem is that it smells a bit fusty. It's one of those 2in1 pram/pushchairs.
I know I can put the fabric liners etc in the washing machine but can I put the squashy pushchair cover in? (hard to explain what this bit is - it's the bit that the baby's feet and bottom go in when baby is a bit bigger and can sit up) I'm just worried that if I machine wash it then the inside will bunch up and I'll ruin it!
Any ideas? Thanks!

Pressure washer.
Or get outside with a bowl of soapy water and a tough scrubbing brush. Scrub it to death and let dry. Throw in some disinfectant too.

I bought a second hand Phil and teds few years back and the main seat and cocoon wouldn't fit in te machine so I scrubbed and pressure washed.

I cleaned my pram bits in the bath. The stiff seat bit and hood. Just pour some soap powder/liquid in the running water like you would with bubble bath. Stick stuff in, let soak for a bit then give it a scrub. Drip dry on washing line if you have one.

We did ours in the bath. Biological powder, gentle scrubbing brush, leave to soak. Repeat if necessary. Then rinse through several times to get the biological powder out. Dry outdoors if possible, or on an airer over the bath.

Thanks everyone - I've taken all the removable fabric bits out and put them in the washing machine on a gentle cycle. Going to do the basket in the bath later! Cheers for the suggestions - sometimes I feel like I don't have a clue with this baby stuff! Grin
