Anyone had obstetric cholestasis in second pregnancy?

With my first pregnancy I was diagnosed with OC at 38 weeks. Went for routine check up and was sent for monitoring due to high blood pressure. They ran bloods and found I had OC so then had an induction straight away.

Did any of you have OC in first pregnancy? What happened in any subsequent pregnancy? Is it pretty definite that if you have it once it will happen again? Is it always an induction?

Yes me. It often comes back sooner and its up to 90% reoccurrence rate Sad but I'm on pregnancy no3 both my inductions were fine. I'm sure if you had a rough time of it you could discuss with a consultant?

Oh and 2nd time I had lots of extra monitoring (2weekly) and all the drugs, delivered at 37+3 first time I also had pre e so was slightly earlier at 36+1. 2nd pregnancy definitely easier!

I had oc with dc1 but not 2 or 3. Yes it has an up to 90% recurrence rate but I think the actual stat is it thought to recur in between 60-90% of cases, so potentially as many as 40% of women who get it once do not get it again.

Tbh it is putting me off TTC again. The idea of being on meds, the increased risks etc.

My induction was OK. Ended up having the drip but they were almost pushing for a CS as DD was small.
