when do you start buying things?

I've always got in the back of my mind that anything can happen, and keep putting off buying things. Partner is really eager (actually, he wanted to start buying things when I was only 5 weeks lol) I want to wait, but worry I'll just get huge soon and won't want to go out and trawl around shops.
I've just hit my second trimester, do you think it's relatively safe to start buying?
When did you all start buying?

Hi OP, congrats on your pregnancy!

With DD, DH and I bought a buggy at 6 weeks!! When I look back, it was crazy to do that so early (felt right at the time), but it was an absolute bargain Grin

No 3 now, and took it a little slower (ish). 12 weeks, we bought the pushchair (again, bargain was £250 down to £99!) and just past 20 weeks now, know it's a boy and have just bought some lovely boy sleep suits!

Whenever feels right for you, there's no right and wrong for this one x

I bought a little blanket at 20 weeks, but I waited until between 25 - 28 weeks to buy anything else. Had a previous first trimester loss, so was super cautious as I'd bought a few bits and pieces before and it broke me all over again having to pack them away.

Worth remembering that the majority of pregnancies pass without incident so there's no need to be superstitious about things as in all probability everything will be ok.

I was just a bit once bitten twice shy. I'm nearly 35 weeks now and the house is now full of baby things Smile

We didn't buy anything until after the 20 week scan. I wanted to know everything was alright first.

First time round we waited until 25 weeks to buy anything big, although I had picked everything already.
I started knitting at 10 weeks though, I needed the excitement!

Got a bargain of a pram at 14 weeks then nothing until after the 20 weeks scan. Now at 26 weeks I'm nearly done- I've spread it out over 3 pay checks and a donation off family as savings are limited.

I'm 17+5, so far I've bought some first size body suits & a first size outfit (they were just too cute!) Going to look at prams/pushchairs today, we have a mini & want to see what we can get to fit in it or if we have to change my beloved car.

With dd, we waited until 25 weeks when I could feel constant kicks...I miscarried before her so didn't feel ready until then. This time baby will have dds hand me downs...if it's a boy, clothes will be sorted later on.

I started after the twelve week scan, and I'm glad I did because by 28 weeks I was severely limited by spd!

I think once you're secure in the pregnancy is good - gives you time to spread the cost, seek out bargains etc.

I wasn't going to buy anything until after the 20 week scan but cracked the week before in the face of Nectar card vouchers/freebies and picked up vests and sleepsuits. Started buying bits of clothes on eBay after the 20 week scan, and bought most of the big stuff around 32 weeks (didn't have space before then!).

Probably after 20 week scan. DH is a bit superstitious and probably would have waited until after birth to get anything, but we've been picking up bits and pieces over the last few months. I suspect my mum started buying stuff the day we told her--she certainly started making a baby quilt right after. Hmm

Before we started trying we bought a super cute rug for our 'one day baby' with a robot on... Something we seem to collect! we only found out this weekend that we are pregnant and bought a little book 'spot visits his grandparents' to break the news to our family.. Will wait for a while to buy anything else tho!
