Early pregnancy - all kinds of pains!

According to dates I am 5 weeks today with second (already have a 4 year old), don't even have my booking in app until 19th October, first scan will not be until mid November but I am experiencing all kinds of pains! the obvious period like cramping, lower back pain but also experiencing pains in both hips and down the tops of my legs! also started getting pain across the top of my back today, bit lower than between my shoulder blades, feels a bit like trapped wind but not as bad, more a dull ache, and also in my ribs. I am constantly freezing so thinking I may just be ill too? Sunday night I was up all through the night with (sorry for this) a very bad upset stomach and vomiting. Am I being paranoid, is this all part of pregnancy or should I be making an app so see someone? First pregnancy was fine, sailed through with barely any morning sickness.

It's not as simple as that to get an app with my GP these days! already tried first thing this morning and just got told to call back tomorrow morning and try again Sad

That sounds like my GP. They say to call in the morning (mine opens at 8, so they say to call at 8) and they usually see me that day. The morning slots are for people who ring that day and the afternoon slots are for pre-booked appointments.

Could you ring epu? Sorry to hear of your pains. Early pregnancy sucks !

Thanks, what is EPU? I'm going to guess early pregnancy unit at the hospital? pain in shoulders and ribs seem to have eased off this afternoon but if they come back I will do thank you. I was fine first time round (even with my sister losing her baby at 27 weeks to Eclampsia) but this time I feel really paranoid about everything, only known for just over a week too.

It's early pregnancy; with the shoulder pain it's quite worth getting checked out - apparently it's symptomatic for a few things? I don't want to worry you though! So sorry to hear about your sisters baby :( we are a thread of worriers! 2nd baby here and I'm worrying this time round more x

I had horrible pains in my last pregnancy, literally on my knees by week six turned out it was twins and my liver had taken a funny turn due to all the hormones.

Thanks Username, the shoulder pain eased off yesterday afternoon and hasn't returned, I didn't realise that was a symptom so I will keep an eye out! useful information.

Gracie I don't think you realise the significance of that lol my partners mum is a twin (one boy one girl) and there is loads of twins in my family too, we also have identical twins (which are a fluke anyone can have them) so everyone has been saying it's going to be twins to freak my partner out, but I am showing already! 5 weeks! did you find you were showing quicker with twins? surely the size of the baby at this point I wouldn't be showing? (I also really like Gracie for a girl!!)

I have my first app in 2 weeks with the midwife, I will hang on for that unless the shoulder pain comes back. Thanks everyone.

My partners mum is a twin as well! Identical though but there are loads of identical twin girls in his family which is what I had too. I was also showing early but if it's a subsequent pregnancy that can happen as everything is already stretched.

Aww fab I would love twins! my little boy is nearly 5 now though so everything should have gone back to normal. Thanks though you have put my mind at rest because I don't remember having this many aches and pains with the first pregnancy.

Well went to the early assessment unit last night, Dr felt stomach and said everything feels perfectly normal but didn't feel confident enough to just leave it at that (because of this pain in my shoulder, which has now gone so really hoping that's a good sign, really glad you said about that Username or i wouldn't have had a clue!) so I have a scan tomorrow now to double check everything. Should only be around 5 weeks though so wouldn't it be too early to see anything anyway?
