Pregnancy

Tiredness wk 13 - Will it ever end??

Hi All,

Hope all your pregnancies are going well! :-)

Was hoping for some advice please! I'm now 13W+1, and, oh my word, I've NEVER felt tiredness like it!!!

I want to nap ALL OF THE TIME!!! Struggling to get through the day at work, finding it difficult to do even the most basic chores at home too (luckily my bf is fab and he's really stepped up).

It started about week 5 and it's just not getting better yet, sheesh!!

No other children to look after but I work full time plus I've got a long daily commute which probably isn't helping. Had blood tests and there doesn't seem to be another cause (ie not anaemic, thyroid probs, diabetic etc....). Just putting it down to hormones, and potentially the fact that I'm a bit unfit too.....

Please tell me this will magically end as I go into the 2nd trimester? And any tips on what may help with the tiredness in the meantime? (apart from lots of sleep which I'm already doing)

Any advice greatly appreciated! Thank you! :-) Xx

I'm 16+3 and I'm just about feeling normal now e.g. I walked to work today for the first time since I got pregnant :)

I am tired all the time. Prior to pregnancy I was tired all the time due to arthritis. I have just accepted that I will forever be a tired person

In both pregnancies the tiredness improved for me about 14 weeks. I never felt I got back to pre pregnancy levels, but the need to go to bed at 6 pm abated. It does vary for different women though, hope it gets better for you soon!

forgot to say, I'm taking floravital liquid iron to help with tiredness :)

I really suffered with excessive sleepiness in 1st Trimester. I literally couldn't stay awake at my desk sometimes. I would regularly take myself off to the ladies loos, lock the door, put the seat down, lean my head against the cubicle wall and have nap for up to 20 minutes at a time. It sounds terrible, but it was the only way to get through the day sometimes.

I'm 19 weeks now, and the extreme tiredness lifted at about 16 weeks (along with the sickness), and I have much more energy. I definitely feel, and get more tired in general than I did pre-pregnancy, but I no longer need the power naps at work, and feel much less zombified. So I can't guarantee you'll feel better in the 2nd tri, but I definitely do, and many people say that same.

17 weeks and still feeling shattered and v sick here Sad

Apparently my iron levels are "brilliant" so it's not that!

Just waiting for first tri tiredness to go and 2nd tri blooming and boundless energy to arrive. Hmm

39 weeks tomorrow & I've never been so exhausted. The good thing is I no longer have to drag myself to work! I did feel better in my 2nd tri though, it's only these last few weeks where it's got really tough.
They say early days with a newborn is more tiring though... God help us!

The absolute total wall of exhaustion that I had for about 4 weeks during the first trimester has gone but I still want to get to bed around 9.30pm and I've ditched morning gym in favour of lunchtime gym in order to get longer lie in. I'm 17w3 just now. And on Monday I lay down on the bed for a minute when I got home from work and woke up 45 minutes later Blush.

My advice is to listen to your body and to try and live a quieter life for a while. I took a break from one of my hobbies and I didn't go to a few social things. I found it hard at first (berating myself for being a loser/weakling) but DH kept reminding me 'you're growing a f*cking human in there' so I gave myself a break!

16+2 was a massive corner for me. I went from sleeping from 5.30pm til 7am almost every single day after work, then just drifting in and out of sleep all weekend, to feeling like a new woman, the sickness also stopped almost immediately. I was lucky like you to have an amazing husband who did everything.

there is light at the end of the tunnel!

How about using a day of annual leave midweek here and there so you can catch up on sleep? break the week up a bit also. Mind you, I felt as though if I had slept 23 hours a day, I would still have been wrecked for the waking one!!

14 weeks today and I'm still exhausted and throwing up a few times a day!

15 + 2 and still exhausted. The other early pregnancy symptoms have reduced a lot, not so nauseous and the permanent horrible taste is now just occasional. But I'm still so tired I can't think straight. Starting to get very cross that the magical second trimester reprieve (which I was really looking forward to) has so far failed to materialise. Glow, ha ha, good one its all lies

It's not even normal tiredness. I'm not even particularly sleepy right now but its like I only have energy to do anything in short 20 minute bursts then I feel like I need to sit down before I fall down ...

Yes hun, it will get better. I could barely stay awake during the day. I lost interest in everything, all i wanted to do was sleep. I had bad nausea - that didnt help too.

Im 16 weeks now. Last week was so much better. THis week is a LOT better. I feel like my normal self. I was even thinking of walkign 2 miles this morning.

Hang in there. YOu will feel normal in a few weeks.

Firstly, congratulations! Secondly, I just want to join in for a moan Grin

I feel awful, all the time. Sickness from 3 weeks, permanent tiredness even though I go to bed with the kids every night. Have forgotten what DH looks like or what an evening feels like!

I am shite at pregnancy. I never bloom, and no trimester is any better for me, just different symptoms. My SPD has kicked in early this time so that's depressing fun, and really adding to the exhaustion.

When people say they're tired....there's nothing quite like pregnancy tiredness!!

BUT. I'm sure it will lift for you, and you'll feel better soon.

Lots of luck with the rest of your pregnancy, and to the rest of you ladies too! x
