I'm 36 weeks exactly tomorrow. This is the first pregnancy that I've ever had go beyond the first few weeks.
I didn't get any sickness early on in my pregnancy, a little nausea which lasted two weeks at the most. But nothing to complain about!
But, recently (since about 30 weeks) I've been getting horrible heartburn. I've been using gaviscon and recently started on ranitidine.
I'm sick in the night at least three times a week. It's horrible. I sleep with a sick bowl next to me - just in case. I have to use three pillows to prop myself up, and sometimes the only way to feel comfortable is by sitting bolt upright rather than lying down. I wake up frequently (but need the loo frequently so it's that as well as discomfort)
I've been putting it down to eating too much or too late (my bump is big as my baby is measuring large and I have excess fluid) but I wonder if it's something more serious? Do you think the baby is ok? I can't believe it's not getting enough nutrients as it's massive but I'm no expert.
I've told the obstetrician and GP when I got the ranitidine prescription and neither seemed overly concerned. I don't want to take too many drugs though as they're not tested during pregnancy. But I do understand that the risks are low.
Is it normal to be sick so often? Should I be more concerned?
I have a scan a week on Tuesday to check the baby's growth and the obstetrician wants to discuss delivery options with me. I'm assuming this will mean induction or c-section but I don't really know! Does anyone have experience with this?
