Very loud music - worried

Hi, I'm 25 weeks tomorrow, and last night we went to the theatre and omg the music (live orchestra) was SO loud, even for my ears!! I was in panic, I tried to cover the bump with my cardigan thinking to protect the baby at least a bit, he was kicking a lot, and I felt so guilty and worried... The show lasted about 2 hours and at times the music was the loudest it can be. Do you think it could have done any harm, or am I being silly?

You are being silly. Imagine watching the show with your head underwater, it wouldn't be so loud then would it.

Baby will be fine - my bump went to see the Specials in concert at 6 months with no ill effects to his hearing. They have loads of fluid around them, it stops them being hurt if you slip on the ice or get stuck near loud music. But it's your job as mum to worry about - good training for the future.

Hope the play was good. Smile

I went to the cinema at 8 months PG and my daughter went nuts. I was so uncomfortable I ended up leaving!

No lasting damage to her though, although my internal organs will never be the same again Grin

I worried about damaging baby's hearing when I saw Jurassic world at the cinema. It seemed unnaturally loud and obviously was full of roaring dinosaurs. I felt daft afterwards.

I'm worried about my baby hearing DP's crappy "shake your ass" music. I'm sure your baby will be fine.

I went to watch a Grand Prix at 6 months with DS1, never occurred to me it may be too loud, and it was LOUD! Blush

I performed all the way to 8 months pregnant - including playing in a symphony orchestra, and singing in a large choir with a large symphony orchestra accompanying. DS clearly enjoyed the experience and tended to be still when there was music to listen to and annoyed that it had stopped (kicking and shoving) when there wasn't.

I took my 25 week bump to see War Of The Worlds on stage...He went absolutely mental! I still to this day believe it's because he enjoyed it though. He's now 2 and LOVES music!
I took my twin bump to see Slipknot and Foo Fighters earlier this year. I know they were technically too under developed to hear anything, but I'll enjoy telling them what a fantastic time they had when they get older! Grin
Like PP said, imagine listening to music under water, then also with several layers of membranes, muscles and fat around you. I imagine it's more the feel of the vibration than the actual sound they pick up on.

I saw Arcade Fire on the night I was told she needed to be delivered asap (early). I figured it would be my last chance for a while and I'd had the tickets for 6 months. Your baby will be fine.

I heard it is good to exposure to loud noises, will get used to noises it'll hear post birth. My bump seems to be used to most noises, but kicked when I turned the food mixer on the other day!
