Agonising lower back cramps 39+5

Just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation.
Yesterday evening around 7pm I started getting very tight pain in my lower back very similar to period pain. By midnight this pain became more regular say every 30 mins lasting around 40 seconds. But by about 2am I could barely breathe by the constant agony every 10 mins or so. I was awake all night in pain just tossing and turning.
I rung the birth centre to ask for advice as I have genuinely not felt pain like this and wasn't sure if it meant the start of labour, and was advised it may be because baby could be back to back and just to take paracetamol and try and get to sleep.
I have barely slept all night and now the pain has eased off very slightly with the paracetamol but is still coming and going regularly.
Has anyone been through this? Could it be the start of labour? Not sure how to get through the rest of the day like this!!

My labour started that way. Baby want back to back, it's just how my body it- always get period pains in my back too.
Have you got a tens? Try nice bath as well. If your partner is around, a strong massage on your coccyx and the sides just above your bum should help. Hot water bottle and rest if you can- you might need your energy later. Make sure you eat and drink as well. It did take me a long time to dilate and I didn't sleep for a couple of nights which didn't help.
Also sending some sympathy. I remember those back pains really well and they are absolutely agonising.

Also being on all fours might ease the pressure on your lower back a tiny bit.
I'd you're really not coping, I would go in to the birth centre so they can at least find out of you're in established labour and you can decide how to proceed.
