bad cramping starting at 8weeks?

i have just started this evening with cramping in my tummy radiating to my thighs. I've even been in bed resting now for the past 2 hours and its not eased any.
I'm 8weeks tomorrow with my second pregnancy, had crampy period type pains in my first pregnancy, but not to this extent.
is there anything I should/can do?

I had really bad cramps in the same place about the same time as you, The mw told me to have a paracetamol and use warm water bottle... sorry I can't be much more help

Very little you can do, have some paracetamol, get some rest and contact the local early pregnancy unit if possible for an early scan. Hope everything is ok

Have you seen a midwife yet? I phoned early pregnancy unit for advice last year but they didn't need GP to refer me. At that point I hadn't seen anybody.

I had a lot of cramping this time from 5 weeks onwards but everything has been fine so far - it completely panicked me though.

no not seen anyone yet. I'm due to see midwife for booking appointment on wednesday.
If i still have cramps like this in the morning then I'll call the gp and go from there.

sniffy mine was so bad one night I called 111 and they recommend what to do next.. maybe give them a try and see what they advise? hope it shifts soon hun x

Sniffysnifferson, I called the Early Pregnancy Unit direct. They fit me in an hour later. If I'm honest, it didn't cross my mind to go via my GP. Let us know what happens.

well the cramping still here and im spotting now, started as old brown has now progressed to slightly darker red with a few teeny clots everyso often.
Been to the doctors at lunch and hes referred me for a scan at the epu on saturday which is the earliest they can do.
Just waiting now to see if things settle or get worse now.
but its not looking good

Really hoping it eases off soon sniffy - epas were great any time I've been. Try & rest as much as you can - i'm sure you'll be thinking of nothing else until you get the scan but fingers crossed it's here before you know it.

Sorry to read this sniffy. To maybe give you some hope or another possibility, long story short, I was complaining to my mum yesterday about the non-stop cramps/ ached I'd had weeks 4-5 and that I'd felt short changed as was looking forward to 9 months of no periods. She said that the first few months, it felts like her body was gearing up for a period each time and she felt like she was going to come on. Good luck and I hope it's something like that.

I'm passing more red blood and some small clots when i go to the toilet so im not holding out much hope of a positive outcome.
surprisingly at the moment I'm ok, feel a bit numb to it all at the moment with nkt knowing for definite. I think in my head I have just come to terms and made peace that this pregnancy has most probably ended- i really hope that doesnt make me sound heartless as it couldnt be further from the truth as it is a very much wanted pregnancy after difficulty conceiving.

I am just dreading every toilet trip as i dont know what i may find.

well had the scan yesterday and I have miscarried, there is a little pregnancy tissue left but there was no sac or anything left behind. So they have sent a report back to my gp and there is a follow up scan In 2 weeks to make sure it is complete.
